Badger's Poachers ale is another winner in their range. Great summer and autumn ales.

Once my liver is out of its sling, I shall return to the world of ales with more respect this time.

Yes 'Windsor Castle' on the sign. No paintings of cardinals on the walls. One of my uncles got married in Westminster Cathedral many decades ago. They owned a house in Pimlico and it was their local church.

I am against changing pub names as part of some spurious makeover. You used to be able to give people directions in this country using pub names. Now even pubs that have not been pulled down often have a different name.

Boiled water the whole of last week and this; no nuthin' that could possibly effect the natural 'riddim.

I will however, be purchasing some Bavaria 0.0% pilsner and wheat beer later in the week.

^It is crap, especially that boiled water after taste in the mouth.

Tonight though, I shall be tasting the Bavaria's and will report right back.

Bavaria 0.0%: pours straight and clean; a lovely straw colour with a nice neat head on it. The body and taste is that of liquid Weetabix and is far superior to such formaldhyde enriched beers like Budweiser.

If you're on the wagon, or driving and like the taste of lager and cannot face drinking four or five tonic waters or cokes, then this a viable option.

Re: What are you drinking at the moment ?

Fear not gentle reader, for I returned to the specialist with the missus in tow and having read up on the subject, full of questions and ready for damning verdicts on scarring of the liver, etc. Well, only good news prevailed, my liver has only the first warning signs of what will come and is fully recoverable with a period of abstinence.

Of the twenty-odd live funtioning tests only one was high and this was a non-threatening one, nevertheless, it is a warning of things to come and the liver needs to rest and get back to normality. The liver was slightly enlarged and is all down to drinking whisky. This tipple if off the cards for me, as are all shorts, but once I get the clear, I shall return to the world of fine ales.

Having had by life given back to me, I walked out the hospital with fresh winds in my sails.
