I had to go off and meet a new client this evening, hence my silence. I possibly looked a little bit like the gentleman carrying the case on page 181 of 'The Ivy Look' - aside from the fact I am a lumpy-faced northern monkey and not Japanese. I wore the nice, very subtly shaded jacket I had off Keith Rylatt (who once posted on here - and I mean once), dark grey Brooksease, white shirt and deeply conservative Paul Stuart repp tie, dark hose (Falke) and Jarman cordo wingtips. 1967 Burberrys' because it started wazzing it down. It was a very attractive Indian lady I went to see, who, in spite of owning a number of resturants, was dining on a Cornish pastie, roast potatoes (that she had managed to burn) and mushy peas. She did not comment on my turn-out.
A sense of relief as I climb back into my patched Bean Natural Fit, USA-made Ralphie polo and Paine EE with its shawl collar. I could be mistaken for Russian Spy this morning. I really hated having to wear that repp last evening. Maybe I'll end up like my old Dad, living in his polo shirts and jeans.
^ You're right: socks it is.
sorry, just seen it a few times on here, and thought it rather igent, like 'shirting' etc.
You seem like a straight-talking chap, and it jarred!
No, no, you're spot on. 'Shirting' is a new one on me, young michael. Is that how they go on on 'Ask Andy'?
Our chippie used to serve 'fish bites': bits of 'cod' or summat in batter. Now called 'goujons'.
You confirm my worst suspicions.
'Shirting' sounds like some sort of gay euphemism....
Interesting article on 'trolling' in the 'Daily Telegraph' (a smug and annoying paper, but show me one that isn't). In my youth, 'trolling' meant something rather different: a trip to a cottage in search of trade. Shows how times have changed.
Mega-Trolls can now shit themselves in fear of being arrested for malicious communications. Good thing too, there are so many dickheads on the internet that never experience the consequences of their actions.
I don't mean on here! I meant the types similar to the guy just sentenced in this country. I don't think our judicial process needs to be jammed up with cases surrounding the off hand dismissal of a patch madras sports jacket.
Ahhhh look who it is, nice one H.
I've been lurking here long enough, thought I'd show my face.
