Ripper!
Nice one FXH. The ultimate Ivy jacket?
I think so.

Wishbone ??? Wtf bloody iPad speller.
In all my travels I've never found a jacket to beat the Grey Herringbone. I've flirted with Brown, Green, Checks, all sorts, but I always come home to Grey Herringbone with Charcoal flannels or 'Year Round' wool trousers.
Maybe because I saw so many B&W pics as a kid growning up? (A theory of a mate of mine) Not sure... But a grisaille palette certainly predominates in my garb (as a certain blogger might write)
My old mans a Garbo he wears a Garbo sack.
I love all that twat talk: 'Don one's garb', and all that. So funny.
And he lives ina council flat
Please - He 'resides' there !
Of course, the sleeves look way too short on that jacket. This has been commented on before in respect of the picture of D.H. wearing a khaki cord jacket in the Hollywood Ivy book. Possibly done deliberately by the wardrobe dept to make him look more geeky in the film.
I agree about ultimate jacket status for the grey herringbone. I'm struggling to find one that's just right in a 40R.
I really do think that it's the most versatile item.
Out on a limb - Better than a Navy Blazer.
Thanks FXH. Great shots.
I'm with Harpo that this is my ultimate IL jacket too. I've never seen one that I love so much.
You would like the grey herringbone JS/Keydge slack jacket Liam. I'm selling mine I've decided it's a tad shorter than I like in the body.
I thought that jacket was great on you mate. Can't remember exactly where it went to on your thigh but i thought i was a good look!

grey hb jacket, olive chinos, navy shetland, white ocbd and burgundy weejuns is perfection in my book. A look I wear all fall long.

good find mate!
Yeah, looks great. I still haven't found the right one. And I'm not particular about the make.
This is still on my want list, and has been for the last five years. Will I ever find one?
Surely something on the Hardy and Johnson front would be suitable?

I see vintage Brooks gray herringbones on eBay all the time. Is there something specific about the Dustin Hoffman one that I'm missing?
The color! Guys, the color. There is one now on Ebay, just my luck that it's 17.75" in shoulders. But Dustins the perfect coloring, versatile as hell.
I bought a Hardy & James grey herringbone and it's the best-fitting jacket I own. I'd recommend them to anyone.
