There may well be more confusion here peeps...I'm an Andy B alright but have absolutely no link to any Andy B's gone before me...
I've been lurking for some time but have never posted on here under any guise before..I'm W London based if that helps separate me from any Andy B's gone before me....
As you were

Well I like duck boots so you'll get no complaints from me. Are they good looking? Probably not but yeah, absolutely practical and definitely have a certain charm. The rest of the stuff posted sounds great to me too.
JFM - yep, I'll hold me mitts up there....a hissy fit thrown but then I'd just checked the Pret a Manger soup menu and realised I'd missed the broccoli & Italian cheese from yesterday.... that's no way to start a day, especially when you work on Camden High St....
Kingston1an - was in JS a few weeks back and I seem to recall a few on the rail out back still....
I'lll big up the cravat too HP... sterling work in the field....

and just to ruin it all....
an old TM Lewin pale blue button down...I know..I know..you can't take me anywhere...but they're a good "cheap" fit for me so I'll own up to having a few...
Back to the Tweed: if this has sprung up before then I apologise....
One of my fellow Captains of Suave mentioned over the weekend that one can trace the number on the Harris Tweed label back to the year, Island it was made on..blah blah blah...
Anyone know if this be true?
I did contact someone at the Harris Tweed Society or some such and they told me to feck the fecking feck off....which was nice...actually it was a reasonable email reply, there's too many jackets/requests etc.....
My mate then said he'd seen it in The Chap as follows:
"Last year there was a link I found (eventually) that began via an article in The Chap on HT, which is no longer there. It was a very basic looking site, the sort of thing someone does who isn't interested in professional design, just a long list of six or seven digit numbered codes and a date it has disappeared. The Harris Tweed Authority site has bugger all on line and there are many bloggers complaining that you currently have to send a picture of your label off to the Harris Tweed Authority. They are able to tell from the serial numbers, the place of manufacture and the approximate date (down to a specific year).
What I do remember reading is that using the red orb symbol and the big white label with the serial code only became law in 1993, many, but not all jackets had that label or a similar one, in them as far back as the 1970s, but all jackets now have to have it, since it became a protected product under EU regulation. Back in the 1930/40/50s it was a small yellow/gold label, so those are the really valuable ones."
It's a lovely thought if true to be able to trace such a great item back, no...?
