'...Commanded no authority'? This is a internet chat room discussing shirts and trousers.
Is there no end to your pomposity?

Quite, you have commanded no authority to criticise other people's wearing of shirts and trousers. Does that make you realise how utterly feeble and ineffectual you really are?

Yes, I must have missed the course that would have prepared me to contribute to 'The sneaker thread', 'Get your cock out' and 'What are you drinking right now?'.

I reckon it's general butt naked, the man that matches his socks with his shirt colour. FAB!

You won't be attending any batman screenings will you spectre? I hope not. You seem so intelligent and sinister... a real life super villan, and incredibly sad bastard.

Why do you feel I am a sad bastard?
After all, we are all on this chatroom together?

Aren't we all a bit 'sad'?

Re: Ivy League style for today

The truth of the matter is this place isn't a bunch of yes men, most people on here have their own specific view of ivy. From people like leer, to yuca at both ends of the spectrum, and if you've lurked long enough you'd know that there isn't a party line, the fact is you choose to come on here and acted like a prick, and further more tried to school hank on full-cut chinos. Well that was always going to end in tears. I take it you are general butt naked, and the outfits you put up were hilarious, you must have been beside yourself with glee when you coordinated your socks with your shirt, or your jumper with your beard.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Yet again I am out of touch...

Sharing my enthusiasms makes me happy - In fact I do it to enjoy being happy and I hope that it makes others happy too (If they happen to share my enthusiasms).

Where is the sadness in all this life enhancing fun ?

- And things get even better when we meet up in the flesh and there's good wine, good food and good conversation.

It's perfectly OK not to like what we like. But why would we care when we are here to have fun ?

Jim.

I think that there is constructive criticism  , observational suggestions and downright insluts - I think Spectre (who I'm going to call Phil) is a purveyor of the latter.

I like Tom's style, he wears it naturally and it works. Likewise with Zach, also his commitment and importance to here and now ivy through his shop can't be understated.

You can never fault tom's colour choices. For his clothes i mean, not his hair, although saying that, do you colour it tom?

Re: Ivy League style for today

I'm not getting the big knot thing myself; big in relation to what? The rest of the tie? The shirt collar? I know its not the jacket lapels because their to wide, though what makes them to wide I'm not getting either. Mr. S is merely stating that the lapels are to wide for his liking and the knot to big. Perhaps he's got a little to wide himself with how he got it across. Remarking on Toms hair amounts to the same thing, too long for Mr.S's taste, fair enough but that doesn't make it wrong to wear ones hair long.

100% natural, the missus who is considerably younger hates I have no grey and she does. I might not be Mr Ivy, but it influences me plenty, that's why I come on here, to see how others work their wardrobe, I'm not one to bitch, life's too short.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Make your mind up gents.
One day it's everything must be just right and it's all attention to detail (Which I thought was a big part of the Ivy ethos).
Then it's anything goes, it's all part of the spectrum etc. Grow your hair, wear any old shit.
I made some constructive criticisms which I thought the gentleman took very well. The knot was too big, lapels etc. Tominisky knows he should cut his hair to achieve the Ivy look, but chooses not to. That's his choice.
Hepcat admitted he is pompous, that is also his choice.
I choose to speak my mind.
I don't know what all the fuss is about...
