I posted with respect to the previous photos of OX in his jackets. NO ONE would take advice from a man dressed like that if they were looking to buy a Corneliani suit. I wouldn't anyway.
Oh right I thought you just meant his general look! I do think the details go a long way I dont like frumbie trad trousers
I have been looking back at some pics and I think you guys are right. I could benefit from a bit more taper. A quick question. Do you guys have a brand fit that offers the taper you want or do you take everything to the tailor?
Thanks for the feedback!
Well done for ditching the blue shoes and green cords feature, the cords are much better with what you've paired them up with now on your blog. Can I suggest you ditch the hat your wearing above? It looks stupid.
No worries Max, wear what you want for me. At least you've come to your senses and started using an iron.
You know when your in a pub and you think everything is about to go off. I think we somehow avoided that. Well done lads. I didnt want to spill my Babycham
One thing I will mention though is neat grooming. You can wear your shirt out and look ransacked if youre neatly groomed because it just looks like you kicking back and actually have a fixed address
Extremely tapered trousers , favoured by many on this forum, are IMO more of mid-sixties thing than Boom Years Ivy League, if you go by vintage examples. So saying "that's not Ivy" based on trouser width is a bit pointless.
Most of the "proper" trousers and even khakis from the boom years I've seen have been fairly roomy, but with a taper. Some of the trousers I've seen from the 70's and 80's have been narrower at the seat and thigh, but the hem width has been pretty much the same (Brooks for example). I'm not too keen on the "parallel" look myself. Looks very out-dated in 2013. The extremely tapered trousers have been have usually been 5-pockets or leisure slacks from the mid-60's aimed at a very young clientele. Trousers as slim as the ones in the ads in The Ivy League Look seem to be really rare, at least before the mid-sixties.
Just look at anything Brooks did before their new Madison and Fitszgerald lines ( I don't know exactly when they started making slim trousers, correct me if I'm wrong). Or check out the Dexy's "This is What She's Like" for some extreme width, clothes were sourced from Brooks. My vintage (early 60's) BB N#1 sack suit trousers are really baggy by today's standards.
This is all based just on obsessive buying of vintage gear. I like quite a lot of taper myself too. I'm wearing reproduction Levi's, a BB trad cut USA blue oxford shirt and a vintage tweed sack from Zach btw.
Just to repeat. I didn't say it was un-ivy like. Just not preferable for me. I think untapered trousers are a oneway ticket to dadsville. Unless someone is really thin like a woody allen type build. Im not keen on the bagginess of it. Also I like fuller shirts and think they look better with a loose but tapered trouser.

Wait are we talking about max or ox's trousers? Or both?
Ok I just interpreted you writing "not kosher" as "not ivy".
If my trouser bottoms are too narrow, I look like a golf club. I'm 6'2" with a 30" waist. -if I was to wear a pair of longwing gun boats with 7" bottom trousers, it's mashie nibblick time! I've hardly ever had trousers tapered. I did once have the trouser legs from a 60's Cricketeer suit widened, however.
I think really narrow bottomed trousers look like a caricature in most cases. You have to be pretty short to get away with it. I like a taper, obviously - but it's not a deal breaker for me - I can wear parallels.
Im not talking about suiting as much as chinos and 5 pockets which were from my knowledge being marketed from about 57 as slender and tapered. Im not saying that all trousers were then made that way. 9.5 on my brooks bros wash n wear. But by the mid 60s this was a typical casual and sportyivy shilleoutte. Which was the period max was referencing I thought? Yes it is a younger look. But like I said probably not one for very thin people in most cases. I still think ocbd would benefit from more fitted trousers to my eye. But max's look couldve just done with them finished at that length like billaxs were in that photo liam posted
I think the weejun just answered my prayers he just posted some kodak cords from 1966 on his blog. Again advertised in a youthful way. Maybe ive just become brainwashed to taperist propaganda. I blame Liam

I tend to go for 16-17, and thin soled shoes.
Between 7 and 8 depending on the style and cut, having skinny calves means I don't resemble and ape in slimmer cuts, but do lost if they are too wide.
