I think age comes into play here. I see pictures of some more mature Ivy dressers in what I'd consider fairly wide trouser bottoms and it looks great on them, but I don't think I could pull it off. Anything more than 8 and I just don't think it looks good on me. This may just be a personal hang up though and I do wear my trousers with no break.
I like most of your attempts H with the trousers, the cords probably being a fav, anyway, people are best to suit themselves with what they think works, I should've not said it's more or less Ivy, but it is of a very particular time, the time I like most ivy style wise.
BTW, I'm with Zach and Harpo according trouser width - too narrow is sometimes not too well looking, at least on me - but I hardly wear them with no break, I'd always sport a gentle break. The narrower, the sleeker the shoe should be IMO, fat bastards for example look better with not too narrow trews and a gentle break.
Most of my own trews are a "classic" fit, that's more of a fuller cut, but not too baggy either. I know that Hard Bop Hank prefers the fuller cut and a wider leg, too... I guess it is a personal choice.
I love a gunboat with a high trou. Maybe we should put it down to preference. But my point shouldve been you cant approximate the look. The clothes need the right design to put them in the era. Otherwise your back to ivy with a twist
It is but there is a difference in terms of having a pair of vintage southwick suit trousers with 9.5 hems. And then approximating the look with something that doesnt have anything from the era about it at all. Just interested in authenticty or the pursuit of it.
Out of interest thou. Do you guys angle the hems on these straight legs? Or do you wear them with a pretty full break?
Oi! Mind my Babysham you two!
I don't know what you lads are wearing today but if you're out and about don't forget your handbags.
The point is you cant though. So just ignore it. And to be fair leer if youre gonna publicise yourself on here maybe join in with the other threads too, otherwise its just a bit selfish to exploit the readership views on here
Well then why come back at all other than to just promote himself. He seems more than happy to do that?
... and what are you saying Soggy should ignore? Leer sticking up for himself or Leer posting photos of what he is wearing in '...Style for Today' thread? Bollocks man.
Wind your neck in GW. It's utterly pathetic that you feel the need to tell everyone about your fantasising about strangling another forum member just because you don't like his style.
Saying 'to be fair' doesn't mean you are being fair, mate.
So he isn't really all about Ivy. Neither are many of us. Not to mention you or Bop. Or me!
I think soggy needs to calm down especially with the threats. It doesnt look good on anyone. And who really cares who can beat the shit out of who? The isnt talk ufc
Leer didnt have to leave he was just very precious and maybe not used to people like soggs. It cleary hasnt bothered him too much because he is back. And he obviously doesnt feel intimidated to post because he is. I feel just like he is on here to promote himself. Which there is no harm in doing. But using the forum just for that I feel is exploitive.
That was the first time he left. He came back after that, apologised acknowledged how daft that post was, took everyones advice and posted well.
The reason he left last time was because he was hounded by you.
How dare you! Im all about the ivy. Cut me and I bleed herringbone tweed! I think there is space for everyone here. But I do feel leer just came back to sell his blog
Well I wanted to try it step by step... it' s been the people I like here that gave me positive feedback over the last months that would be the reason to try it again. I am not so keen on posting when I' m called a hoho every time I write three words. You all know I posted alot in the past and it wasn't all rubbish. Well, part rubbish, but not everything. I wonder what's Simon's big input... telling us wise words about buying Corneliani suits? I have my reasons not to comment on that.
