Hey Oliver, how much altering did you have to do with the O'Connells flannels?  Are they generous in the leg?

Cashmere perhaps?

Oliver- completely missed your post earlier with all this excitement. I love the Trimingham's jacket. I had a feeling you would fancy it and I'm glad you got it. I'm not sure anyone else I know who could really make it work. Cool as all heck.

I like the Marvin Gaye look but I believe it is a stage costume and he probably wouldn't wear the suit around town.

I don't think high rise trousers suit people with a short torso....I think a medium rise is best in that case.

The sleeve length is different though, they're shorter on the green suit.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Oh I don't know. Those PT01's are an 11.5" rise. The same as my Bedfords. Anything longer than 12 and I'm starting to enter Lurch territory. I can't wear a short short jacket but better short than too long. 30-33 is a good length for me. Anything longer is far to "old hat" for a hip and cool mod like myself, anything shorter and I look like a twat. Its all about body shape. Even a slim sexy bastard like myself has to take it into account.

I reckon H's suit looked pretty good, would agree the button stance looked better in the second picture mind. But the sleeves were shorter!

If I was H I'd more worried the Robbie seems to have a collection of pictures of me, which he looks at while wearing ladies panties and lipstick. So Yuca told me anyway.

Re: Ivy League style for today

The pair I got with my Brooks wash n wear were 14'' front rise, proper gramp's style. I also have a lovely pair of old 60's levis trousers which are 14'' too, but they're both 40 inch waists I think. The look it gives is quite dated, and I prefer the rise on my ALexanders which I believe is 12.75'', much better for jeans.

Re: Ivy League style for today

I was accused of wearing hipsters when I said they were an 11.5 rise on here before. I have a pair of Mabitex at a 10.5 rise, even that looks ok on me. I wouldn't go any lower as that would feel wrong. I don't care if its not high enough to be classed as Ivy. I won't wear something that doesn't suit me.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Exactly... you have to dress to suit yourself, which is why I liked Ivy in the first place, apart from the overall look of it, certain details work for me, the soft shoulders, as mine are rounded, hi-rise to combat short legs, etc.
