Re: Ivy League style for today

Well you're probably right Woolster...maybe not politically correct with a sport's jacket but I've been wearing Tootals & their like for well over 30 years now and old habits die hard! Gawd knows how many I've picked up over the years... they all need an airing and a day out!!
Almost a link to that workwear/class argument in another thread..
I'm a frustrated Docker from 1935 you know...

Re: Ivy League style for today

Fellas, it's a thin madras tie. Much skinnier than the repp tie Henry's got on in the photo above. The sort that oughta be worn with a tabbed collar. With an unlined button down, the knot needs to be pulled tighter or it'd look silly. I don't mind the way the collar falls at all though. I could have easily shaped it to get more of a bell roll (I find my heavier Sero Purists don't need this) but I think it looks fine. I'll take a few more photos with different fabric/sized ties and without any at all to post comparisons. Don't think it has anything to do with the tie being pulled too tight as it does just my not bothering to shape and press down on the ends.

No worries H. I'm going to have it made into an SS job. After I've worn it (under a jumper) and washed it a couple of times. Shirts great, just that I'm a long fooker.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Darn, so I bought the wrong pair?  sad

I already tore off the tags but think I'll be sending these back as they sit well below my natural waist line.

Henry, are yours from the Canvas line as well?  They look like a much better rise than what I received.

Re: Ivy League style for today

The ones I bought were the Elston model which I know see also reads: Sits below your hips

But the Canvas slim fit chinos read the same. I hate dealing with returned parcels and credits etc but these are going straight back.

Henry, do you have a link for the chinos you've got? I thought I was getting the same but these are a dodgy cut, the rise is like 9.5"

A word of warning, they shrink a bit in length. I'd give them a good 2 or 3 hot washes before hemming them.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Oliver,
I've had great experience returning stuff to LE.  They usually take things back no questions asked - even without tags, worn, washed etc.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Here's some film of me DJing a few weeks ago.  (Not my usual Latin vibe - this was a 20th anniversary reunion of the night I used to do.)  You can't really see my outfit too well, and a blue shirt would have worked better with those pants.  And the shirt is not tucked in very pristinely (I had other things on my mind).

What the hell, I'm posting it regardless:
