Re: Ivy League style for today

Oliver,
The ones I like are the LE Tailored Fit plain front.  They fit pretty good out of the bag and even better with a slight taper IMO.  I've posted wearing these before.  Here:

Not sure off hand.  But I'll be glad to measure when I get home from my dismal, shameful, troglodytic, proletarian drudgery of a job.  (hope they can't see what I'm typing)

Re: Ivy League style for today

Mine, in the picture, are post taper - to 15".  They have a single button closure, no clasp.  The rise, measured from the longest part of the crotch to the waistband, is "14.  That's on size 30 waist.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Much appreciated Wm I think these are the boys for me.
I have always liked the rise on LE but have bought trad fit (elephant ass) trews.
I have then had the added expense of having them heavily altered.
It seems like the tailored fit will this for me without the added expence.
I think i might have to go on the us site though as the uk site only has non iron tailered fit.

The ones I have ARE the non iron.  So, can't comment on the others.  They may not be the same fit.

Re: Ivy League style for today

I have a size 32 waist and the rise is nowhere near 14 inches, they would be up around my ears if it was. Are you talking about the back rise WM?

Re: Ivy League style for today

No.  I measured from the lowest part of the crotch, to the top of the front waistband, not from the seam to the top.  That would probably be more like 11 or 11.5.  Sorry to confound matters.

Re: Ivy League style for today

I just called Land's End and apparently the pants are now discontinued.

They had one model with an 11-1/8" rise in the front and according to the sales rep that I spoke with, they were the highest rise offered. It's the plain front tailored fit but NOT the non-iron. They're a much heavier weight cotton than the current offerings I'm told. Whether or not that's a good thing will be determined. Sad to say that they do not offer a single chino over 10.5" anymore, so you can all strike Lands End from the list - but not just yet...

While these chinos are no longer for sale in stores or online, they so still have some stock, and get this... THEY ARE $7 / PAIR!

Yes, you read that right.

I just ordered 2 PAIRS of chinos for $14 with free shipping delivered to my door!

Here they are in both colors ordered, size 32/30...

In case those links don't work, type in the model number 404851 in the search box on www.landsend.com

I almost stocked up on a few more pairs to offer up here, but didn't want to get stuck with wrong sizes. Anyways, not sure if it will work for you Brits but better call and try to take advantage quickly if you can because there's not much back stock leftover.

Meanwhile, I'll be returning the dodgy pair I received in the mail the other day to a local Sears for a refund.

Thats all the 35 waist in Khaki Taupe, Light Beige, True Navy gone.
