Awesome shoulder on that suit he is wearing, look at how it sits even when he has his arm in that position.
Yeah he had some taste. He also wore this pin striped grey mohair suit which I have a replica of myself, except with wider lapels.
He might have looked comfortable but the spinal injuries, the constant medications to combat the pain and his encroaching Addison's disease made JFK's life strenuous.
It is interesting to see his father in pinned collars all the time.
Excellent stuff TV, the man looked smart and sporty in many cases as well........ I like that......obviously....very cool !
The photo on the boat reminds me of some Michael Bastian promo stuff from GQ, etc
Kennedy: Brilliant dresser, supremely elegant.
The fit in the suit coat is impeccable. I can't claim to be a fan of the narrow lapel, but he did it very well.
The pic on the boat takes the cake. The ambassador of prep. This was back before Italians took ownership of prep and now destroy us in this area. My trip to Rapallo, Italy was filled with sights of young and old Italian stallions in slim fitting khakis, driving shoes, hand-tailored button-ups, and cashmere sewaters tied around the shoulders. My trips to New Hampshire, Massachusetts, etc. are filled with white boys in pink Polo pants with lobsters and other creatures printed on them. Oh well. Perhaps we need another Kennedy to bring us back to taking ownership of the Preppy style! In any case, great pics.
Muhammad Ali was also a master. He was always well turned out.
Ol Chums,
Good links indeed. Both JFK and Muhammad had top style.
See if you can read page 125 of the book Ask Not linked below. When asked about JFKs new suits for the inauguration, JFKs tailor says "of course two button. We do not follow Ivy League or beatnik. We make gentlemans clothes". Interesting quote.

The first photo posted by tomasso shows that JFK preferred buttoning both jacket buttons, throughout his life. (I noticed this quirk in his later photos, but I had assumed that was a response to his declining physical condition.)
TV
I can't defend the last outfit, haha. Must have been acceptable for the period -- now it looks odd haha
I just listened to the narration. There are a of errors and misimpressions. Some are obvious such as Kennedy "killed" the hat. Others less obvious, perhaps, to some. The claims that he was radical or revolutionary in style is fairly dubious. He was, among other things, a preppy, and his style in many respects (esp. photos where he isn't wearing a suit) reflects this.
The narrators comments on the 3 button vs. 2 button is also a bit laughable, esp. contrasting the 3 button as fitted and "boxy" to the 2 button as "baggy". No mention of the natural shoulder, either.
And no vents!
But, but, but, but - (you know what's coming - ) The Curriculum (etc) !!!!!
