I really enjoyed the Blue Note.
I think I'm right in saying the paradox being that it was one of the resons that area became trendy. Which in the end caused the clubs demise.
A shame, I had many a good night there.

Wahey - Lighthouse - Another top tune that..used to spin it too!
Yeah - I've done a monthly night in the area for 11 years and it's almost like an Essex night out there now...but then nothing stays the same for ever, eh?
Did you do CREATION in the area too...going back even further?

Blimey. My wants list has grown more in the last few weeks than in the previous year! Keep 'em coming lads.
Lovely bit of Thiele up there.
My main memory of the Blue Note isn't a good one. I was living in Camberwell, and made the long tube journey with my girlfriend for my first visit. Queued up for an hour before being told it was full, whereupon we sloped off for a night bus, only to run into a bunch of arseholes who crossed the street to smack me in the head. We ran off down Old Street, and to cut a long story short spent the whole bloody night in the nick, waiting to be interviewed.
This was a fave of those days:
Harold Alexander — Mama Soul

and on the subject of sitars, it'd be rude not mention old Dave Pike, a massive track before it blew up and everyone and his dog knew it:

mustn't forget Klaus....
