Re: Ivy League style for today

We've had a thread in the past about how slim Brooks went. I'm not sure I remember the actual slimmest the chaps posting discovered but it wasn't very slim at all compared to the lapels of the more fashion focused Ivy brands.

I guess they took a similar position when thinks got much wider a decade later.

Re: Ivy League style for today

I've seen some pretty wide Brooks lapels on some of their '70s / '80s poly blend jackets. Wide enough for me to think "damn, that's a wide lapel."

Re: Ivy League style for today

This could make for a good thread. I wonder if their attitude to fashion had shifted slightly by the wide lapel peak (no pun intended) and they embraced the trend in a way they hadn't before?

I guess you'd have to factor in the different lines they were making too.

Re: Ivy League style for today

I've got a red 3/2 Brooks blazer with wider lapels than usually seen on the mid century University Shop sacks that they were turning out at the time. It doesn't bother me though, there's place for varying widths.

^yes. Thanks.

I wonder if in the 70s Brooks went to their widest or if they just went as wide as they had previously,  pre boom....
