I got a huge tick on my arse once, when I was just a wee lad. My mom had to work on that thing for a while until it released its hold.
Glad Pat didn't croak from the little bastard and he's obviously back in fine form. Hopefully lightning won't strike twice and he need not worry too much about that happening again.
^you only get Lymes once. So it's a blessing in disguise.
I got it and noticed it really quickly. I can happily tramp about all over the place now.

Liam — It's not that clear-cut.
I had erlichiosis, another tick-borne illness with very similar symptoms (and the same treatment) a few years ago. That was brutal but it raged for a good 72 hours before I saw the doctor.
This time I felt the onset and was on the meds within 24 hours.
There is a "post-Lyme" syndrome, with some symptoms persisting for as long as six months. At least they think that's what it is.
A recent, colossal New Yorker magazine thumbsucker concluded, after 30,000 words, that nobody really has any idea what the deal is with these tick diseases and your best bet is to cover up and spray yourself with vicious toxic anti-tick sprays, which will likely make your willy turn purple and fall off.
Considering how much I romped in the woods when I was a youngster, with complete lack of regard for precaution, it's a wonder I never contracted such an illness. Are these tick diseases becoming more widespread or more acute in recent years?
You may not want to follow this link then, Liam.

No telling what they've got over in your neck of the world.
I know they have Lyme disease in my area. But, I just choose not to venture outdoors unless I'm wearing a half bottle of Joop Homme. That seems to do the trick.
It's quite prevalent here in the Netherlands, more so than the UK I think, but as I only look at the countryside from a Brompton on a cycle line, I guess I'm pretty much safe. Except for mowing the garden.
My response to you rhymes with kick.
Very nice suit Woof (and infinitely better than the Keydge jacket in your previous post). Rest of the outfit is class too (except I would prefer darker socks - or maybe the photo misrepresents).
