I always discounted Elvis 70s output as his bloated Las Vegas decline, but as you state Sanshall, some excellent live material from 70-73 where he still had fire and tenacity, with the backing-band and singers to deliver it.

WM, thanks for posting that great Youtube clip of Buddy and Elvis in Oklahoma City 1955 which also featured glimpses of Carl Perkins, Scotty Moore, Bill Black, and Johnny Cash ... still kicking myself for missing Johnny Cash in New York once upon a time but I did see Carl Perkins there in 1978 and he still had a good voice. Buddy was looking pretty Ivy there too given the context and location. Johnny on the other hand is dressed like a sinister Colonel Sanders ..... Bill and Carl look like they had a hard night .....
