Good discussion. Dressing appropriately is key, but that maxim is also uncontroversial. Billax shoveling snow was cited as an instance of not dressing for an occasion, and soon after the claim was thoroughly called into question. Good luck to anybody seeking an uncontroversial instance of the uncontroversial maxim. The sense for 'occasion' has changed more than it has disappeared; we're all playing by different rules and that alone is the cause (though the cause of that, I don't know). But I would agree with that quote, at least insofar as I can speak for myself, dressing appropriately is just too difficult; it requires more work than I wish to invest. My sartorial dream is the same dream I have philosophically (encompassing broad extension): I want the passingkey of clothing. I want an outfit that I never have to fundamentally alter because the outfit passes as appropriate in every conceivable context. It's an impossible dream, but I long for it nonetheless, and the idea is a fixed source of inspiration in me. In accordance with such an ambition, 'what comes closest?' is the question.
I do not wear my wool sweaters in the summer heat and I do not wear my loafers in all of this slush and snow. My reasons are not abstract. My reasons are rooted in immediate experience and basic human predilection. This is where 'appropriate' is demarcated in the very least.
I is on a tube back west from 'ackernee and popped by for a quick read but man this is an awful lot of info to compute ..
I'll be honest too : Thee Captain is in dire need of a poo and was touching cloth a sec ago but then read true Blue and now I fear I be tortoise heading?!?
So whilst I clench my cheeks for the remainder of the journey, I say always look the mutts nuts even if you're shovelling shite?!? The one thing I'm sure we have in common on here is we all pretty much loathe most of our respective nations' attire.. So fuck em all I say and rock your look when and wherever..
I'm also a bit pissed tbh and whilst I don't wear cargo shorts so much, I do wear very high cut off denims in A Daisy Duke stylee mainly on account of having a great Jacksie..
Lord have mercy.. Just a coupla stops now!!
Hahahaha. "Touching cloth". I usually say "touching cotton", but funny either way.
Isn't Ivy League all about American clothes?

I'm embarrassed the room looks cluttered. I need a bigger flat. They're your run of the mill clarks dessies in cola. I'm particularly pleased with the Laurence J Smith shetland I have on in 'Loden'
The shirts a Fitzgerald, I just ordered another this weekend because I liked the fit so much. The trousers are a pair of gant chino's that I was given as part of my uniform when I worked in one of there stores a few years ago. I had them altered heavily.
Anyone with a profile pic of Jack eating chicken wings is undoubtedly a man of good taste!
Welcome JB,
