Re: Ivy League style for today

Hey, thanks, Armchaired and Worried Man!

Worried Man -- Get a pair! You won't regret it!

Armchaired -- I'm kinda surprised a lot of folks on here would be indifferent to the boots. I mean, they've been a preppy staple for years, especially at Ivy League colleges, and after all, this is the Ivy League Style For Today thread, no? wink

Re: Ivy League style for today

Shooey, looks damn fine mate.  That's a nice looking herringbone.  And don't be hasty with alterations.  I think the jacket looks to fit fine.  The shoulders look ok to me too.  It would be nice to have a full length shot to get a better idea.  The ivy look is all about little to no waist suppression on the jacket and the more generous fit of your shirt is also something you shouldn't shy away from.  A traditional, full cut button down shirt fits squarely into the look - I think there was actually a thread on Talk Ivy dedicated to the perfect shirt "billow", with clever sayings like "If you ain't got the billow, you're surely biting the pillow" and so on.  Just keep wearing the clothes.  A nice soft shoulder tweed will kind of shape to your body after a while and you'll feel more at home in it.  Like those lovely shoes you always post. smile  A great start to my morning right here...  Now WHERE'S MY COFFEE??!!

Shooman's jacket looks to have the right slouchy quality.

Otter : Take it easy, I'm pre-law.

Jesus, I can barely tell what I'm looking at there AC.

Mighty Max, mighty nice.

And to touch on Patrick's comment on Shooey's jacket...  Ivy can have varying degrees of slouch, but the slouch is something that is almost inherent in the look.  Without it, you look like a mod or an Italian.  The slouch is what makes it so American.
