^He was the real Generation X, when you compare him to Kurt Cobain (somewhat earlier), it's like Michael Jackson and Prince in the mid-80s.
By way of contrast and a very British sensibility:

For all you musicians out there, specifically guitar players.

I'm going to make you dweebs like Yes yet. I mean, it's complex, it rocks, it's catchy, the production value is great, everyone's kicking ass, it's funky, it's country, it's orchestral, it has a harpsichord solo for god sakes... JESUS!!! My brain just melted out of my ear!! Don't hate it just cause you can't wrap your brain around the greatness.
Yes - South Side of the Sky

I'm no guitar player, but just listen to Steve Howe on this track. They guy's just untouchable. The riffing is intense.
I'm not a devout Yes fan overall, but at the same time, I don't understand why so many people just dismiss them. Yeah, Owner of a Lonely Heart is horrible and I discount most of the stuff they did after Bruford left the band. But the first 5 albums with Bill Bruford on drums are just untouchable progressive rock compositions in my opinion. The creative output is phenomenal. Maybe it's just the music geek in me...
