I read that book years ago, when I was a lot less into both mambo and literature. One thing I recall is that by around half way through, the author starts to mention the central character's large penis on almost every page. Such shoddy writing techniques put me off rereading it, however I will do one of these days.

I've not seen the film either. I know TP wasn't happy with the dancing in the film (apparently none of the dancers was familiar with the technique of dancing 'on 2', which is an essential element of dancing mambo).

No recall of penis at all. For me it was a seductive entrance into a magical world in NYC etc that could have, just maybe, displaced rock n roll.

I think my book came with the CD. Maybe not.
