I guess "slope" could be highly offensive too. Damnit!
Stan, I find that nudity offensive. Ok, ya got me. I don't.

The one I'm wearing is probably the oldest sweater in my wardrobe. It has beautiful Bakelite buttons.
Great size 42 H.I.S. jacket

This ebay seller has evidently bought up a load of NWT deadstock J Press items. There are some outstanding Buy it Now deals such as sports jackets at $99.99.

Very nice!

Just bought it, then realised it doesn't have the Makers designation. Yet it's clearly old, so I suspect it will be ok. Thanks for the tip off.
All the lighter cloths have a subtle lining to the collars, otherwise they're too floppy. My prime concern is whether the sleeves are long enough to come to, or at least near, my elbows.
A rare beauty, size 44R -

Nice, but I detect darts and ventless. The latter would be a dealbreaker for me if it were my size.
I highly doubt that it's darted from the looks of it. I see what you're looking at but I suspect that it's just a light crease combined with the weave in the photo that gives it that effect. I'd bet money on it being a true sack cut.
As for vetnless, not an issue for me. I have several 100% purist ivy league jackets from the 1950's without a vent. My favorite three-button pincord sack jacket is ventless in fact. Why do you consider it a dealbreaker?
The seller's obviously mistaken listing it as a "1940's" vintage. If it were a size 38-39, I'd spring for it in a second. I think our man Harpo has a vintage HSM flannel that he's posted before.

I just emailed the seller because the sizing ain't kosher.
44 jacket and 34 waist would put that wearer into cartoon bodybuilder frame, right? That's a pretty big variance. I wrote to him/her for confirmation and asked whether the jacket's darted.
The same seller also lists this killer deadstock Cricketeer overcoat:

It's a size 40 and looks to come fromt he same estate sale, which makes me even more dubious about the size of the suit.
I'm sorting through his other items now... will post anything else I turn up... unless I want it for myself!
^ 100% NOS with hooked vent. Beautiful!
I wish that fit me.
Estate sales are a very American phenomenon, aren't they?
That said, they are good for turning up some great items.
Not sure if they're distinctly N. American but they certainly are common here.
One in my neighborhood all weekend. Started early Friday and when I drove past on my way in to work the house was already swamped with customers.
