If I remember correctly, all of my Makers from the 70's-80's measures 8.5 inches. But I've got one from the early 60's and the collar on it is 0,5 inch shorter (not much but it sure makes a difference). So I'm not sure if there's any "correct" lenght. Although 8.5 seems to be most common.
Nice shirt btw, but it looks green to me?

I don't actually measure my collars - if they look right I keep them, if not adiós. However since I bought a few with the smaller collars (that I went on to sell) I don't risk getting 7 button Makers unless they're Oxford (which includes pinpoint). On saying that, I do have a couple of half sleeve 7 buttons that are lightweight check/stripes and have decent collars. (Very useful at this time of year.)
Unfortunately, I thought I was safe buying Makers in Oxford cloth and pinpoint - but apparently not. I'm fine with them- the cloth is so nice, the collar rolls nicely and the color is slightly less gray/blue- to my eyes- than the current Brooks Brother blue shirt.
