Mmmm hmmmmm.

I'll have what he's having.
I ALWAYS wear rubber gloves for inspecting my trousers WM - as should you. Did you skip remedial hygiene classes that day?
Yeah, I think they probably are - but certainly not the modern ones - slim, fairly straight with a nice rise. I've been lucky with Levi's cords recently, I've also scored some vintage 551s which are like 519s but with a button fly. I also just got some red tab 521s, which are a very nice cut but slightly roomier. They're all in varying shades of sand. Levi's model designations are bewildering aren't they!
Monsieur Acton is the man for deciphering all those codes.

^ the vintage 550 and 551 are the same cut (pretty much) - like 519s but a little more in the thigh and seat, a great find Harpo.
The new LVC 551 (1962) is a very different beast, has a zip (?) and is listed as a reproduction of the first 'pre-shrunk' denim by Levi's. They were only made until 1966/67 (that year they introduced the 505 to replace it) and then the 'lot number' was assigned to the 'White-Levis' label range.

Ha! How do you do it man!?!
The look and fit I always aspire to with 5-pocket cords is in that "Don't let your girlfriend borrow your Levi's cords" ad that's in the Ivy Look book.
The very same - I've got to get me some olive green ones!
Harpo, if you are prepared to go the Japanese route there's the 505 in dark green

And the repro LVC 518 these were made in Spain and were supposed to be Japan only, can still be found but colour availability is slim in NOS/Deadstock condition.

Another person in OCBD's haunting streetscape!
Proof that he isn't sending missives from a future - via some tech we haven't figured out yet - where, after some terrible calamity, he is the sole surviving inhabitant of an unnamed US city where he has the free run of the wardrobes of the deceased.

Back to Levi's cords, if anyone's a size 32 I have a pair of (supposedly) late-'60s super lightweight with a serious taper! They're almosta cigarette cut. Rise is disappointing at around 11" so I've never worn them. $10 and they're yours. There's no detailing other than a tiny Levi's tag stitch onto the side of a back pocket to ID them. They're pretty generic looking.
