I'd love one in that blue, or a simlarly coloured Catalina. I've got a white Catalina and it's great.
Great stuff! Mines a "Varsity" model with the flying fish motiff lining. I love Catalina linings - the Derby jacket linings a pretty cool too - gold paisly I believe!?
Nice! There's a lovely vintage suede Derby on Ebay at the moment - too much dough for me though.
No it's an actual Derby of San Fran. in suede - used but in good condition. If you serch for Derby jacket in vintage men's clothing you should find it.
Woah, Eastwood has a big head...Newman looks tiny!
Sweet Vintage Derby Jacket..i got a new derby from the san francisco store, but the fit and feel of the old school derbys cannot be matched.
Finding a vintage BLACK Catlina varsity jacket is difficult...they fit nice, like the old school derbys...
I got a whole collection of old school derby jackets....the new derbys are nice, but the knit is too stretchy.....anyways, been wearing derbys since 1978 when i was 12 years old...
I was unaware of Derby Jackets until this thread. Thanks- they look great-
This is the current Derby site:

The ones with knitted collars are not doing it for me but I like the older style with a material collar as posted by Acton Baby.
^ woof, it's worth a dig on t'bay for other styles of Derby of SF jacket (they even did a range of 'sack cut' sports-jackets in the mid 60s, the corduroy in particular was rather tasty), they sell for bargain prices as the knitted collar versions seem to be the one favoured by collectors.
The one in my picture was purchased a couple of years ago, only $15 and was in 'nearly new' condition, even had it's original tags and receipt in the pocket.
Does anyone know much about the Le Paz...ive found one online that has reverse flap pockets as well as zippers on the pockets..the photos arent to clear im hoping the flap pockets are meant to popper back over the zips so they cant be seen? Ive messaged the seller but was wondering if anyone knew what the deal was..thanks
There is a detail shot on this listing which shows the zip/flap detail, which is how I though it looked.

The La Paz is a bit different it has full on wedge shape pocket flaps..some look like they reverse..others look forward with a zip visible...im wondering if thats just how they look unfastened or its a different configuration?
Ah, sorry - just saw that was a Varsity! Hmm, trick as there are as you say variations - some forward facing flaps, some rear facing. Obviously this is era related - I would say if your flaps are back (far far) you had the zips.
Just my thoughts, others may know better. Been after either a La Paz or Derby for a while in Navy, alas no 38s out there at the minute.
