/\ yes, I noticed that ... I bought some clothes from the Coop when I lived in Boston and the quality was there ......
Mine doesn't have leather buttons however. You just know that Harris Tweed is going to last a lifetime.
Maybe of interest to someone here:

It's actually 16.5-4; 7 button placket but still a bargain for anyone in that size.
Sounds like you lived through a perfect ivy era, even though we normally think of earlier eras in those terms. If you felt like being casual or even scruffy I imagine you could get away with it (in certain circumstances), there was loads of great clothing available new, and the thrift stores must have held plenty of gold from the 50s, 60s and even earlier.
There seems to be 20 huge thrift stores I can think of off the top of my head around my city, but I imagine they weren't always so large and plentiful. I mean, most of the buildings these thrift stores occupy were originally large supermarkets or department stores that weren't even built themselves until the late '70s and throughout the '80s and '90s. I imagine it was harder to find decent secondhand clothes back in the '70s. Not to mention, a lot of vintage '50s and '60s stuff probably didn't even start getting purged from attics and closets until the '80s and '90s. I think the huge American thrift store phenomenon is a relatively recent thing. And another thing is that I guess you need a relatively large population to keep so many thrift stores stocked with donated clothing. I could be completely wrong here. I haven't researched it. It's just my perception.

He must have a stock of those, because I bought one from him a while back. They're excellent.

Cheers Harpo, took the plunge, for £20 it's worth trying, can always shrink it a touch if need be ;-)
