Acton_Baby? This is your cue buddy.
I've got a few Topsters and a Topsman, which I pretty much use as substitutes for cardigans. But I'd obviously never wear a sport coat over a Pendleton Topster.
I'm not too clear what a Topster is as against a Topsman? Is either the same as a Pendleton 49er?
My Topsman has no lining in the sleeves. It just has the quarter lining up top at the back, like the Topsters. Joey's accurate on the other differences.
I've yet to acquire a Shetland from them but it may not be long until I do considering how Pendleton-crazy I'm getting... *twitch*
One of my roommates is from the pacific northwest (although she's from Seattle- the supposed sworn enemy of Pendleton's HQ) and she has a lot of Pendleton. Pendleton sweaters are her go-to gift for her boyfriend.
I've actually been wanting to get another shetland (I only have one)... Dammit.
The vintage ones has saddle shoulders but the new ones doesn't, if I'm not mistaken?
The current sweaters definitely don't. I'm not well-versed with their sweaters enough to know what they used to do. Incidentally, most of my sweaters are BB with a few LL Bean mixed in.
PS If anyone is interested in either of these jackets, the listings are still active and I'm happy to supply the links.
They look to be completely unstructured along the lines of a J Keydge jacket.
I've talked myself into going for the sport coat. The auction ends tomorrow- hopefully I get it! I'll post it in comparison to the vintage model if and when I receive the jacket.
I've seen a few sites saying that the woolmark logo only came on the Pendleton label in 1964 (when that definition was created)
I've got a jacket with a Pendleton label with no woolmark on
Does that mean it's definitely pre 64 ?
Or is that too simplistic ?
Can we shine a Pendleton or Levi Logo into the skies over London maybe ?
"Holy Woolmark Label Dating Queries - I can't finish this meal Lady Acton - There's no time - Quick ...to the Ivy Cave !"
Ive struggled to get hold of a 60s one that wasnt shrunk to buggery
the one I got above seems like it was never worn ... lucky this time ... cost was under $30, nice as it is in the picture it's nicer in reality ...... more woodsy than beachy but hey ......
I thought it was going to be too small since no measurements were given and I need the 19" shoulders, but bang, it's right .....
would not have Pendletoned if not for you and Acton_Baby so ... thanks Bop for all the great Pendleton modeling you've done for us!
That's a lovely board shirt Stan. I have a board shirt that I recon is 70s but a Fireside that is definitely 60s from the collar role and pattern. I'm gonna keep an eye out cos there's a few places locally that have em in good condition often?
