Very fine there Sancho.  I hope whatever you have in that pipe will elevate you to where I'm at right now.  smile

Re: Ivy League style for today

Hello!

First things first, it was tobacco. Just tobacco...I like the pipe more and more. Makes me calm...depending on what I stuff it with...

woofboxer: I like it! I can only compare it to a O'Connell's and a vintage one I have and I think it hold up pretty nice. The cuffs are on the smaller side, not as thick as the OC, it isn't as "heavy" as the OC either, they said to me that it was a "all year round"-sweater. The neck is nice, not too tight nor too lose: If you have a chance to get one - get it! Love the colors, some pretty sharp ones.

Oliver: It is that one! And I LOVE it! Love the color, the other blue ones I have looks like shit compared to this one.

Others: Thank you!

Re: Ivy League style for today

Cheers, I made the mistake of listening to anothers advice on the fit and have ever since tried to get it back to how it was. Never been so angry with myself, it's still not 100% right but it's a lot better.

I like that very much Tom. Is the shirt pink? Or just a trick of the light? Often in cyclíng gear myself at the weekend too. do you ride with a club?

Re: Ivy League style for today

It is indeed a pink JSA shirt Turrentine. Nope, just ride for exercise tbh and ease of getting around.

Tom, that jacket is a killer.  Whole outfit is right in the pocket.

I like Bop's threads too.

It is indeed WM, which is why I am so annoyed I altered it.

Re: Ivy League style for today

It was my first sack cut jacket and having come from the more Mod like cut with vents it felt a touch big, had it taken in a touch on the body and was happy with it, fit well across the back and shoulders. A friend saw a picture and kept on at me saying it's too loose on the arms and I should get them altered, I said it was fine, it's how it was made etc etc, but he never let up, over and over so in the end I was talking to my tailor friend (by this time I have several sack cut jackets) and she measured the sleeve and said it was pretty wide so I got her to narrow the sleeve, this also meant taking it in a touch at the sleeve head to allow for the slimmer arms, alas when it came back it seemed ok at first so I put it way and forgot about it as summer was coming. Dig it out for the colder weather and it feels all wrong, by this time I am used to the relaxed cut of the style and this now feels all restricted and tight! So I have been trying to get it taken back out again, and it is better, but as I say - I should have ignore the comments to begin with, there was nothing wrong with the jacket. I need to find out when she altered the sleeve if she needed to cut the fabric, if so i'll just have to live with the overly slim arms, really am disgusted I let this person get to me with his comments, he's a good mate but talks utter tripe - and knows nothing about the finer details of the ivy fit, everything is altered to an inch of it's life by him.

Re: Ivy League style for today

That's a shame, I did the same to a cricketeer 5 years back but on the overall length and based on my alterationists advice; had it cut shorter and the guy turned it into a damn bum freezer! I wanted to kill him.

That's a top jacket though and the whole outfit looks great. What's the hem taper on your new old Levi's, is that around 8"? I'm usually hit a fan of tassels but they look good too.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Still wearable but to me wearing it, it just feels wrong. Hem is around 7.5" I think Oli, but not 100% so would have to check later. WM might remember as he slept in them for a few nights before sending them over, for that reason I have never washed them! Funny how I never noticed that bass put the fake patina on their new weejuns until it was pointed out at last weeks trade show - seeing the unfinished leather you can really see how awful the new finish is compared to say these which are a late 60s pair.
