What about jeans with a tie and a donkey jacket?
Cord sack, jeans and boots is pretty much my uniform. As much as I love them, what does a knit tie add to the ensemble?
I would just about entertain it with other five-pocket trousers, but I just think it never sits right with denim.
Gotta pal who often wears the denim, tie and jacket combo - I wouldn't say he was ivy or mod but kind of in between these days.
He always looks good, never over dressed, never sloppy - a few on here know him as Lord Dunsby (Harpo et al).
Ya need the neck for it...
The noose is slowly getting tighter around him!
I have to confess to dabbling with this look. My sick reasoning goes like this - I am now 50 years old and I've got it into my head that I can only really now look acceptable in a tie. If I'm going out to face the world a piece of material swinging around my neck just makes me look neater, fresher, less worn-down and middle-aged. At the same time those LVC reissues are bloody amazing jeans and fit like a dream and just look right. I also think denim is a wonderful fabric with subtleties of texture and hue that please me. So I put it together, hopefully not too Clarkson-like, but probably risible to the neighbourhood hipsters. I happen to have a problem with that whole jeans with T shirts and white sneakers look - it's just a Status Quo/roadie look. If you're over 30 I think you're pushing it with this look. So, yeah, I'm John, I'm 50 and I wear a tie with jeans. I am a twat.
Tan corduroy sack, button-down, navy nitted tie, simple. You can wear jeans, chinos, razor sharp dress slacks or go naked from the waist down with that combo.
But could you rock a mullet with it?
Yes. Yes, I could.
