Thanks, guys, for the kind words on my last offering.  It was a swell day and I felt good in my threads. 

And to address Randy's drum inquiry....  Randy, that's an original 1961 Super Classic set in the "Duco" finish, aka Dupont Color.  Ludwig used this thin lacquer finish, which is actually lead based automobile paint made by Dupont, as far back as the late 1930s I believe.  Not sure when they discontinued it, but I think probably the middle or late sixties???  The kit's interesting because all the hardware is nickel and all of the mounts and brackets are actually leftovers from the WFL (William F. Ludwig) company, and the floor tom even has a WFL badge on it.  From 1955 until around '61-'62 Ludwig was in a transitional period and so kits from that period often have a mismatch of Ludwig and WFL parts on them.

It's fine.  It's steel mind, just nickel plated as opposed to the later chrome plating which came in in the early '60s.  Are you thinking about pot metal, like the Brits used to use on the old Premier kits?  I've heard bad stuff about that.  But I had a beautiful '60s Premier kit for a while and man they were good drums.  Birch shells, loud as hell.

Mercer, you're wearing my patience a little thin.  This says a lot.  I'm personally fine with you posting here if you have a genuine interest in the style.  My recommendation is to lurk a while, browse the forums, soak it up, ask questions.  But otherwise, I've just gotta reiterate: Why are you even posting here?  It doesn't make much sense to me when you admit to not even knowing if your outfit is "Ivy" or not.  You've been in class long enough to have learned the basics.

I bought some second hand Dockers the other day from their "made in the states" line and I was extremely happy with them, they're 100% cotton but have a slight sheen which makes them really stand out from my other chinos. Not a high rise, but I don't care about that particular detail as much as others on here.

Also regarding Mercer, I agree with Oliver completely. This is just childish now. You've gone away and come back for what, a third time? If you're not prepared to participate or show a genuine interest or understanding this really isn't the place for you.
