The original is from LL Bean - 1936, same year as the Weejun...
... And just like the Weejun many have copied the classic style -
Some are a bargain, some are amazing quality which is reflected in their price -
Who likes what ?
Best -
Jim.
I'd love to see an original.
I have come to love the dressier lace up moc. The Sportocasin is even older.
Came across these recently:

I love my camp moc boots by Paul Smith. They've really proved great value for money.
^Avoid those minnetonka shoes, dreadful leather and awful stitching.
There's a reason why they do most of their sales online, if you see them in the flesh they are rotten.
The Bean regular and Bean signature range are good value and the Sebago (with the red sole, in particular) are also pretty good.
If you want to spend a bit more the usual suspects (Quoddy, Yukateen and Rancourt) are really good shoes (and are easily resole-able for longevity).

I have an old pair of maine-made grain leather ll beans, they are pretty amazing but fit a bit loose so I don't generally wear them sockless. I'm fixing to buy a new pair for sockless wear this summer but haven't really decided which way to go - maybe Quoddy? Rancourt? What else is worthwhile?
Timberland used to make nice ones, I suppose they still do?
I'll say that I have a faithful pair of the Minnetonkas that have lasted well. I mean, they still look decent even though I now just wear them around the house for chores and such. They definitely wouldn't dress up that well. But, the price was right.

I'm reluctant to spend out on some Camp Mocs as a mate said he would sort some out for me, every morning I check:

I've still not ordered a new pair & mine are in tatters now - Still watertight though & uber comfy.
I recall I had a plan to defraud LL Bean or the Royal Mail. Or both.
The plan you talked me out of...
I shall wear my ratty Mocs on Wednesday to taunt you !
I stole a scarf the other day by the way and, in a seperate incident, some chewing gum.
I love camp mocs and Blucher mocs and have admitted on public more than once to own a pair of those gross grain LL Bean Signature mocs from two years ago. Not the best leather, but you would not expect a top leather for that price?
For me, these mocs again are something specifically American. The detail which defines them for me is the door stop sole. The sole is the dealbreaker for me, not really the leather. These are not really elaborated shoes anyway?
This year, a pair of camp sole mocs is on my list. It definetley won't be the upscale type of shoes a la Quoddy, because with custom charges and shipping they reach amounts I do not want to pay for a shoe which I have to buy online.
I fancy An Eastland or the new LL Bean signature camp moc, although I am partial to the stitching.

I bought some Eastland blucher moc boots in TKMaxx a couple of months ago - comfy and good in the rain. They were only about £40 - don't know what they go for normally.
I don't like camp mocs - don't think I could ever wear them.

/\ Tommy, my guess is that they were Bean camp mocs with rubber soles, same as his pal Paul Newman wore ........
Tommy, check these from Minnetonka. I'm considering another pair myself. Pretty much the best value in my opinion. Way cheaper than anything by Rancourt, Quoddy, or even Bass.

UK members may have problems getting hold of men's Minnetonkas,
the UK importer is only doing the Women's range this year.
Got a very peculiar e-mail from 'em today following my enquiry,
they seemed genuinely surprised that someone was showing any interest in the Men's range (?).
Can't help on the foot binder stuff, but have a Russian military bolt-cutter on hand to lop off the extra toes
I have some of the newer LL Bean camp mocs, and they're great in my opinion. I wouldn't spend too much money on camp mocs though, since to me they're casual and disposable like sneakers.

These look good to me
PT, those Jackman are the shoe Bass make for LL Bean Signature range.
You can save yourself some cash (even after duty and customs) and have a choice of colour by buying the same shoe direct from LL Bean in the US.

^ no problem fella,
It might be worth waiting for the LL Bean Global site to go live in the next few weeks.
