As for Verr, and once again I apologise to him for being embroiled in this, I hope it doesn't put you off posting or you take it personally, I think we're all agreed you look great..

But, I cant find that look of rolled up Chinos and Chukkas to be Ivy as Im aware of it..arguably a desert boot is no more than a chukka and I sight many mid-century looks away from the colleges.

As for which shoes are Ivy you'll see plenty of adverts for wingtip brouges, single strap monks, and yes chukka boots all for the university going young adult of the 50s and 60s.

At this point I would say in my defence to present a dart on an otherwise completely Ivy detailed jacket, mainly due to the availability of my size...and highlighting that point is slightly different than presenting a look like Verr's. IMO

However, look as much as I have I can only find that one pic Sidewinder posted of the chukkas in any ivy context let alone with the heavily rolled up chinos...I can however find literally pages of it being worn in fashion editorials and blog posts from today. Which is where I feel/felt the inspiration has more likely come from, maybe Im wrong and Verr just went with what he thought worked. Saying that Verr, I never said you looked awful, I felt it was just very much modern menswear look.

Currently my annoyance lies with an influx of a look you see quite regularly in London as people shift from Monocle to Trunk as they find their way to the Chiltern Firehouse... thinking that because they've stop off at JS for something they've completed the Ivy look, when really all they've got is menswear for 'today' if thats you bag please find your way to Style Forum especially if you feel you've entered a period dress competition.

I've always preffered authenticity on the forum, or at least strive for it, whats the point of being an Ivy forum otherwise, if that comes with being percieved as a whatvever expletive you want to call me, I'll take that. Arguably, Mercer, cowboy boots aside, which I did argue are of course Americana, presented a basic LL bean look, but got shot down I hope for details and not for any other part of his image. I only make that point not because it still bothers me, but why I might defend one thing and not another, especially if its thought Im being hypocritical. I wear modern clothes but Im.not going to post up pictures of me in new balance trainers or shell jackets... I just like to look at pictures on here and say yes, well done you got an authentic look more so than say yeah you look good. Ideally hitting both nails on the head is perfection. Like Harry has done recently.

There's a reason why I try not to post my uniqlo OCBDs on here, or other things that I dont think cut it, because who wants to go to a classic car show and see modern reproductions done badly..I dont see this as being greatly different. Yes I am a geek.

Great hair, cool shades, cool shirt.  Brown dessies, as opposed to the red cord, would have really sealed the deal for me.

Now theres a thing to say.

If I think something is badly made or looks crap I don't buy it myself. I based my whole life as a consumer on that point. You've got me thinking I may be using the wrong approach when in clothes shops,  pray, do tell, Bop...why you've purchased said uniglo OCBDs and other clobber that "doesn't cut it"?
