And that's why we entertain Jim, because shaming him with the truth is hilarious.
I know what I come here to get my fill of, but I'll be doggone if I don't question almost everyone else's motives.
If we start telling people to leave the forum because we don't like something they have said then the forum is going to be a bit crap.
I dont think anyone has asked chief to leave, there may have been some subtle suggestions pointing in that direction (but not from me)..
Although i have always fanatically defended Irish people , i have been really surprised at how much his sensitivities on this subject annoy me.
I've got no beef with Welt. He would just tell me he didn't like my outfits when he didn't like them. That's fine with me. He does come across as rather snide when critical, but it's not altogether different from the way my friends and I take shots at each other. Having a sense of humor in most matters helps immensely.

No what Im doing is using our cowboy boot wearing friend as an example of double standards.
M16 was a one off: mentally challenged, obnoxious and with zero interest in his appearance. To relate his experience to how others should be treated makes no sense, as no one remotely similar to that has ever appeared here. (Thankfully.)
You're responsible for your behaviour, and moaning about M16 does not change that.
I will happily engage with you about this in the NSFW..in fact maybe it's all best moved over there?
Yes, but do continue. This is rather entertaining.
My two cents is that we really should welcome new members with open arms, regardless of where they fall on the Ivy spectrum. Of course I'm "throwback" and Verr may be "modern menswear" and Soggs is flowery swingin' London mod... And of course we have the resident case Thee Captain wandering the halls in who knows what type of men's and/or women's clothing. But if a true interest in Ivy style exists, then let the people post. If one doesn't like another's personal style or feel they need coaching or criticism, then one should feel free to speak thusly.
I've wore button down shirts, dessies, shetlands, loafers, Harringtons, seersucker coats and slim ties along with other Ivy staples since I was 13. I've always mixed it with Italian and British clobber and will continue to do so. I'm not about to be told what I can and can't wear or post on here by some Johnny Come Lately who dresses like Elmer Fudd and thinks that wearing a cord coat with a shoulder line that resembles a Shar-Pei and a Thompson Twins cap is making an effort.
Just because I don't succumb to group think doesn't mean I don't dig Ivy, I don't feel like I have to like everything under the terms umbrella. I seem to recall Elmer say he liked darts in coats "because it broke up the pattern" (I know, I know) when he first joined the forum. There was also talk from him about Boom year Ivy can look a bit fuddy duddy. I don't remember anyone telling him to fuck off.
