I love that Rauschenberg roll - I'm guessing Sero there but happy to be proved wrong.
Cy Twombly is one of those people I just don't get. I'm thinking Emperor's New Clothes every time I see anything by him.
Take a super massive canvas to make sure people know it's important - make allusions to ancient myths to tie yourself into some great lineage - scribble away like a demented two year old and then say your work exists on many levels or something like that.
I was at his museum in Houston once and the lady in there was explaining to some straight up guy what it was all about "here he's putting down how difficult he finds to express himself"
The guy cut her off with "I'm sorry he's an artist isn't that his job to express himself ?"
I have always thought The geodesic dome as Ivy. The hyperbolic paraboloid roof structure even more so. My prof was a specialist in this design. But I was born too late (building regs restrictions) to use the design myself.
You could pawn them off as your own… and say its your response to Twombly…"Response" I word that always sends a shiver down my spine.
Shit I just googled Cy Twombly- That Venus is his and NOT your child's … Oh my GEE WIZ.
To be fair some of his stuff is pretty interesting as Abstract Art - there's just some of it that's not my cup of tea - namely the scribbly bits - but there you go - horse for courses and all that - as my wife would say "I'm probably not his target market".
Oh boy, the "my kid could paint that" argument.
Twombly's white scribblings on gray graphite are beautiful to me, it's fascinating the way the mind endeavors to make legible sense of nonsense
Excellent shots, Wool!

Yeah.
Ha! Amazing.
