Tom Braden: Dartmouth class of 1940. Joined British Army while US was neutral. Saw combat in N. Africa. When US entered the war he was recruited by OSS and parachuted into France. After the war Braden taught at Dartmouth. At the start of the Korean war Braden joined the CIA and became head of the “covert action” arm of the agencies secret operations working with Allen Dulles and Frank Wisner. Braden with Pat Buchanan hosted the TV show Crossfire. He married Joan Ridley Braden whose eight children inspired Eight is Enough. Joan Braden had an open marriage and she wrote a book ''Just Enough Rope: An Intimate Memoir'' detailing her sexual escapades with Wash. movers and shakers.
