Do we know why it was returned? Was it a quality issue?
Better not be! I just ordered a huge 4 meters.
What are you going to do with it?
Hopefully not a baseball cap.
A jacket, hopefully. Want to make a fully unlined sportcoat that I can throw in the machine so it bleeds. I just bought a Keydge seersucker so will probably use that as a pattern. We'll see.
This guy is my inspiration:

Throw a white shirt in with it and hey presto, you'll have a new madras shirt too.
Seriously though, hope it works out - if the cloth and the tailor are good enough then it should be perfect summer wear.
Good luck chief, thats certainly not a bad thing to aim for
I am ignorant beyond words...
These are cool though!

I'll get Jim to put me in touch with the WI mafia!
Yeah I am gonna take a punt on the guy that does my alterations. He's always trying to get me to have a shirt made so I am about to call his bluff!
Best of luck. You know we expect pictures, even if it's a disaster.
Especially if its its a disaster!
Thank you.
Jacket-weight "bleeding" madras is a different weight than that of shirt-weight, i.e. jackets can't be made from shirt-weight material and be expected to drape properly, etc.
Nothing wrong with the quality. Chennai (Madras) was devastated by monsoonal rains late 2015 and we had trouble shipping orders out, including Mercer's. In the interim, I concluded dealing with such small orders as his wasn't worth it and I decided to refund his money.
The fabric I purchased isnt suitable for sport coats?
...the first question I asked Nillam on page one of this thread was... Is it suitable for sport coats? And the prompt reply confirmed its suitability for sport coats....
And indeed the Etsy listing states it's suitability for jackets.
Ah well...
Nillam, is this fabric suitable for Jackets?
Any light-weight fabric can be used to make Sport Coat, but the coat has to be interlined.
To know more about interlining please visit the link https://shar.es/1jUEg9
As your main fabric is Bleeding Madras Cotton fabric, the interlining fabric also should be Cotton for Summer Wear.
Was going to say...it's just cotton lined...wtf is he on about..?
Re. jackets - two of my madras coats (the bleeding ones) are paper thin. From memory they have a full lining in very light viscose, and a tiny amount of soft padding around the shoulder, they'd collapse otherwise.
The padding is so thin and light I thought they were unpadded, but you can feel it there if the jacket gets wet.
Very good, Moose. Do you machine wash them?
