Stan, I've got loads of mates in NJ who work in instrument hire and repair (most of the musical instruments for hire on the East Coast are in warehouses throughout the area) and I've been the beneficiary of their knowledge.
There's an amazing Polish meats place near Red Bank too, don't know the name but they smoke their stuff in store and there's always a queue.
^ boom !!!
/\ had a great lunch there Saturday including spicy patties hecho en casa and much clowning with the women who work there but afterwards I had to nap ... nap hard ..... siesta .....
also had homemade pineapple-ginger juice, which I always get ... their sorrel drink is good too ....

When I am alone in town, my hideaways have a somewhat more 80ies theme. Annabels. Oslo Court. Wiltons. Or I totally disappear and eat at one of the pubs in the Tonsleys, which usually doesnt end well because of someone who got away. Old story.
The Alma is the centre point of Old York Street's summe fest. A few years ago, I went there. And left. I didnt belong there. It was over.
The Alma used to be good about ten or more years ago. Good food as well. Then the owners moved out to a new place in deepest Surrey - The Parrot in Forest Green which I have not been to.
