The article, however, is horse flop. The sentiment, assuredly, is agreeable but the delivery is quite atrocious. Is this what passes for erudition in certain quarters? Amongst manifold and dire failings - talk of 'energy' for which there is no carrier particle is a telling indicator of flim flam.

It's so many years since I read any of Allen's books that I'm unable to argue over whether or not they are racist, however I distinctly remember them being pretty terrible, so it's unlikely I'll be searching copies out to reread.

The confusing about the Richard Allen books is that while Joe Hawkins is made out to be a villain for his racism and anti-Semitism, the descriptions of Blacks, Jews etc. in the book are also quite racist.
Fun fact: Richard Allen (James Moffat) was Canadian. Made everything up based on sensationalist newspaper reports and the odd conversation with kids on the street.
