I've had some luck finding jackets in my size recently. Hopefully this little bad boy will work out, otherwise I'll offer it to someone on here.

Is that, what's the name, "amerlop"? He has some really nice stuff, usually both too expensive for my tastes and not in my size, but in an ideal world I'd be cleaning him out regularly...

Love that jacket YoungIvy, looking forward to seeing it the ILSFT thread...

Well I did say too expensive *for my tastes* haha... His prices are actually not bad! Though he has some truly expensive old t-shirts I'd love to own...

It might look green, but it's actually a solid brown one:

Are the lapels too big?

Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

The quality will be superb. As long as your trousers aren't too tapered and your tie, should you wear one, is of a similar width to that of the lapels you'll be fine. Nice find.

Yeah I don't wear anything less than a 8.5" hem these days, even on my slim lapeled New Nine Nasa-esque suit. The 3 piece with similar lapels to the above is just over 9.5.

I usually wear 7.5" on my trousers. I have to get the jacket and see, he accept returns so if it's WAY too big I just ship it back.

So I haven't bought anything in an absolutely ages and got annual pay rise at work. Whilst not cheap I've been after a brown herringbone for about 5 years so thought I'd splash out and looks to be an absolutely beauty:

Thanks, Stanshall - I've been looking at it for absolutely ages and felt I could now justify it.

Also, measuring as a 40 XL looks measurements suggest it was made for me!

Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

So not strictly that recent, but digging out winter coats thought this would be of interest.

This was a rare find, given that it was 50 in a vintage shop in London. Those years of digging about were worth it!
It's a bit of a mystery as it has no maker, but has a union label (my guess early 60s). Anyone recognise that label?

I think it's a cashmere/wool blend as it is very soft indeed. A touch darker than photos suggests and swelled seams all over the place. My other overcoat is shamed in the corner these days.

Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

Definitely pre-62 given the union label.

Thanks, both. Was immensely lucky that it fitted and could rescue it.

A cold enough start to the morning in England to warrant digging it out for a photo, Yuca?

60s Indian madras. Almost deadstock with tag in pocket. Found it in a vintage shop in Osaka, Japan.

Holy cow. That right there is an amazing find, all the more so for being an in-person snag... Beautiful beautiful jacket... Tag have the original price on it?

My dad was living in the Minneapolis area around that time, actually...

Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

Thanks. The tag didn't have a price but some weird numbers like a "38," so I'm guessing it's a size 38, although it fit me in the shoulders and I usually wear 36S. Maybe your dad knew the shop? I don't think the shop is around anymore, unfortunately.
