The future of style?

Re: The future of style?

Fun read. As someone who works in the field, I am increasingly frustrated by algorithmic vision and predictive modelling being sold as prophetic. It simply is not. Sparing you the mathematical details, the best a predictive model can do is extrapolate based on a collection of variables that have made themselves apparent in the past. The margin of error in a statistical equation is, to me, the spontaneity of human beings, and the world, that make life interesting. Unpredictability is the spice of life, and the sooner the technocrats who seem to loom ever larger in our lives understand the outputs of an algorithm as being an image of the future seen through a glass darkly, as opposed to an absolute prescription, the better off we all will be.

Re: The future of style?

Do you use things like quantum wave function mhalat?

You can play a shoestring if you're sincere.

Re: The future of style?

No Mhalat, It's just something I've been quite interested in and I know its used for probabilities but that's probably more along the lines of quantum computing. Would be quite funny to try and apply it, maybe that's where all these forecasters are going wrong!

I have some insight into trends in colour and fashion because I know someone who does that as part of their job and they've been lending the magazines they get for colour trends etc. That's quite interesting
