T&A Three button cuff - casual or not

What is your view on T&A's legendary three button cuff? Can it be worn in a business context (= navy suit, Hermes ties, black oxfords) or is it somewhat "in between" (= sports coat, knitted square-ended tie)?

A fussy detail thats just plain ugly. A knitted tie and sports coat would suggest a more relaxed "down time" look, not sure three buttons on your shirt cuff quite sits well with that, unless you left the bottom one undone, to take the edge off, so to speak. In a business context I'd be prone to ask myself why would anyone wanna have three buttons on a shirt cuff rather than is a three button cuff suitable for a shirt to be worn at work.

Why limit yourself to three buttons on a shirt cuff?

Ridicule is nothing to be scared of.

So that little extra third button is "a pointless affection" while screaming pink shirts and socks for men are not?

Double standards I would say.

Re: T&A Three button cuff - casual or not

I wouldn't say it was an affection, its not in the same league as insisting on matching your ties to your socks or polo shirt or other garment to your shoes/sneakers. Theres a cut off point for adults with branded trainers. I'd say once past 30 unless trainers are minimalist like a Buttero you've deffo got an affection and can't move on to something more fitting for your age.

Double standards indeed.

But Pink shirts rock. Not pink socks though, thats just horrid.

Re: T&A Three button cuff - casual or not

I am now wearing my new buttons cuffs at work, in white, with a navy suit and a variety of Hermes ties. Its a clear, unfussy, uniform-like style I like. I will have new suits made with side adjusters, the currents ones were throw-away ones from TM Lewin, which did the job they were supposed to to.

Maybe this almost minimalistic, repetitive style is "my" style?
