I've never hand many shoes, its something i was never into. as i get more and more interested in clothes and as i have come to inherit some good shoes i have a slight but growing interest. so far to date besides my flip-flops and Chucks i have: a pair of black Bass weejun, and old pair of topsiders, allen Edmond tassel loafers, edward green brown brogues and an old pair of florsheim brown brogues. i'm not into rules about what to wear with what so much as interested in peoples suggestions to add to this collection. recommendations???
At this time of year thinking towards Autumn (Fall) is probably wise, rather than investing in a pair of White Bucks or somesuch just now.
What do you intend wearing in the Autumn (just roughly)?
That will then help people with recommendations.
Some kind of Cordo coloured loafers might be nice?

^ How do you respond to these, M.?
For a casual shoe, I don't think you can beat camp mocs. I wear them all the time.
Do you wear Cords, Mike?
A great Autumnal fabric which pairs very well with chukkas, loafers, Dirty Bucks, etc.
OCBD.
Shetland.
Harris sack.
Cords.
Dirty Saddle Bucks.

A shot in the dark, Mike. Not sure as to what you want to wear them with, or how much you want to put into the shoes.
However, as a variation of the Bulldog recommendation on camp mocs, which I'm wearing now, you might consider the LLB Blucher mocs. Similar but with a lace up vamp. Good value for about $69.
If you would look at Shoemart web site, Alden 9942, these are superb. Suitable for cords, Bills', and jacket and tie. Brown shoe with black cordo saddle, made exclusively for Shoemart. A bit informal for suits, but would probably work for most, except navy.
Good luck.
A pair of chukka boots is a pretty versatile option too. They work with everything from casual to coat and tie, and they have (IMHO) a nice anglophile vibe about them. And not 'over-tradded', yet.
I had a brilliant pair from Clarks years ago, two eyelet ones in dark brown waxed leather. Wore the hell out of them.
that's it I'm huntin for chukkas
i'd add a pair of chukkas or desert boots and probably plain black lace-ups, derbys for daily wear and should a need occur, oxfords for a more festive/formal occasions. having said that i ain't got a single pair of oxfords (example being - say - church's m odel consul) as i'm n ot a festive / formal person lol. as for lace-up shoes in general i tend to have a liking for heavier soles. (see gunboat thread for reference).
mike, i also black wingtips would do. try ebay: i found a vintage deadstock pair of black florsheim royals (mint condition, still in factory box) for a tiny price last autumn.
for myself, i'd like to have choc brown suede lace-ups. must go to the mighty www foir those as turku, finland offers none. all tips highly appreciated! (if they're not of - say - laszlo vass price range lol)

You need more loafers, mike.
I quite like that lower back higher front chukka style - all depends if it's proportionate, but can look good. I've got a pair of Cheaney in scotch grain calf with crepe sole, made for Design Works in Soho that I picked up some years back from johnny rushton for £30 - they were my regular winter dailies for a long time.
Maybe I should dig them out again.
Don't take this the wrong way, but I never see anyone wearing desert boots or chukkas anymore. They seem to be a 1980s throwback. I'm kind of surprised to see the interest in them (aside from the usual iGentry and still-in-the-closet "boot boys" on the fora).
In UK chukkas and desert boots are everywhere.
They always are, but right now they are fashionable across a wide spectrum of people and age ranges in various forms - from high fashion vogue types to young kids. All the UK manufacturers have chukkas in some form that are in the top sellers, and I'm sure that Clarks are selling like they haven't since the 70s - mainly because for 20 years they only exported them.
