Footage of J Simons in an unfortunate context

Welcome to the world of ‘Top Boys’ and two bob football ’Firms’ who all have books on their exploits.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBVQsHVP3Z0

From 1.44 for J Simons.

A knobhead presenter with attitude tries to look and sound ‘hard ‘ to fit in with the subject matter.
There is a sociologist talking erudite bollox and Gary Bushell too. What more could you ask for ?

Having said he likes tighter clothing, the presenter buys the Harrington anyway, cos matey says it is OK.

Footage of J Simons features the outside, inside and  those tiny little price tags they seem so fond of.

Squire Shop and Ivy Shop were not hooligan central. This is simply rewriting history after the event.

The dire ‘Green Street’ film was on the telly a few weeks ago. It stars the little elf from ‘Lord of the Rings’ as an American hooligan with a London gang. It is truly awful. The Griffin pub on the corner of Brentford’s ground makes an appearance in the film as a hooli pub. It is nothing of the sort in real life. You can get a decent pint of Fullers and watch the results in relative comfort after the game. It is not a place for trouble makers.

Hard to know what to say.

Nice to see John's.

As for the rest...

*Splutter*

Did that Muppet buying the G9 actually say 'I'll 'ave this then, Son' in JS?

Oh Dear, Oh Dear!

To put it mildly, that presenter is extremely annoying.

Re: Footage of J Simons in an unfortunate context

The youths on the terraces are wearing proper Millets Harringtons rather than Baracuta.

You can tell by the absence of a knitted collar. Unusually they are not the standard black ones.

I never knew anyone who bought a Harrington in the Squire shop or the Ivy shop, so I am not sure why they are not in Millets or an Army surplus store.

Do you mean were? As far as I'm aware Millets stopped making them in the early 80's, at least round our end.

Whatever. They would not be buying Harringtons in J Simons though.

I like the raincoat right at the end in the last bit of footage in John's very much.

A Grenfell?

Am I right to say that Aquascutum macs are nothing like they used to be? Can't comment on their old quality due to my age, but they seem like a timeless item of clothing. Steve McQueen wears one in Bullitt doesn't he?

Re: Footage of J Simons in an unfortunate context

I never bought trousers at the Ivy/Squire myself.

A friend's older brother had a nice cardigan from there, which I thought was a real extravagance.

To be honest, I never really paid much attention to the stuff other than shirts or shoes.

I am fascinated to see a thread on AAAC saying 'How many shetlands do you need ?' Somebody even chipped in to say they would buy unwanted second-hand ones ! I should have kept all my cheap jumpers from Marks and British Home Stores.

Changing the subject slightly, the presenter is none other than the 'legendary' Danny Dyer. He's a proper geezer you know. Has his own website; if you really feel the need to purchase a Danny Dyer baseball cap go to:

http://www.dannydyer.com/shop.html

He has even 'starred' in a few TV programmes and presented The Real Football Factories.

He's also a bit of an arse.

Re: Footage of J Simons in an unfortunate context

I'm a bit tired of all this "Cor blimey, ee's a real tasty geezer" Guy Richie faux cockney bollocks. Every shandy drinking southern bell end is at it. All this "My granny drank with the Krays". Dick Van Dyke bullshit. I wish they'd knock it off. I liked it better in the '80's when all the London crowd all wanted to be european or Wall Street movers and shakers. Now they all want to be Arthur Fuckin' Mullard.

Danny Dyer apparently takes over the Vic in EastEnders soon.  To be avoided.

Re: Footage of J Simons in an unfortunate context

Its because of chumps like Dyer the stereotypes are reinforced. Like the OP stated, "unfortunate", to say the least.

Re: Footage of J Simons in an unfortunate context

How sad that J. Simons only (?) adventure in celluloid has to have that professional cockney wanker in it - words fail me when I try to articulate my disdain for the little b*****d.
