I bought a pair of brown long-wings off the 'bay to use as my winter shit-weather beaters. They look comparable to the ones you've posted albeit more banged up. The maker is unclear to me though the sole announces that it was made in England. Whether that is simply the sole or the shoe as well, I do not know.
Lovely.
One word is enough.

I'm with you there, Jim, right enough. Love a pair like that. The real deal.
I don't know how you guys actually get sizes that fit, when buying on eBay.
^ Well these are a US 8.5D, and I am as well...
...in most cases. It's a calculated risk, but I rarely get it wrong.

Lovely shoes there, 1966. Tony wondered about getting sizing right with shoe purchases on the net and I for one have been lucky. I take a UK size 9 1/2 or 10. A pair of Cordo Florhsheim longwings came from the States at size 10 1/2 and were a perfect fit. When I recently saw some black pebbled Mason longwings so cheap on the net (shipping working out more than the shoes) I ordered them even though they were 12 1/2 figuring that i might sell them on. Tried them on when they arrived - a perfect fit. Think I must have adaptable toes or something!

^ Were Longwings ever produced for both sexes? If so, they might be a women's US 12.5, that would equal a men's US 11...
Those really are a work of art & I'm loving your developing shoe ideas. Exciting times we live in!
^definitely.
i'll be watcing this space closer than i've ever had..
some beautiful florsheims in there!
about time to start my ebay madness over and over again..
^ Good to see fellow members buying worn-not-trashed shoes.
I once ventured into The Wardrobe to see what these fellas were up to. After I'd heard the Shooman preaching his gospel ("thou shalt not wear rubber soles, thy shoos should be purchased new"), I ran back here with the quickness.
Seems to me that French kissing women is far more dangerous than wearing someone else's slightly worn shoes.

Hi Shooey -
I'm more of a loafers kinda guy. My only longwings are the Loake copy of the old Royals in Cordo - Little worn, inexpensive, but with The Look (almost) in their UK copying the US way.

Hope you are well this morning -

Sad that the current Loake Royal has stepped down though. Why not charge a bit more & make a bit of a better shoe?
Royals don't need to be £100 as pictured above in today's market.
The above pictured dark brown grain Florsheims arrived today. Excellent condition and nice roomy fit (my last pair of shell cordos were a 9 and painful).
However, boy do they STINK!! (Not dead man's cheesy feet for those who shy away from second hands shoes), but from rancid old nicotine. I've put them outside in the sunlight on the basis that sun is the best disinfectant and deodorant, then will tie them up in a carrier bag with a few spoonfuls of Bicarbonate of Soda in the bottom. That should do the trick.
I never like to leave bad feedback unless the seller is a real asshole but no-one should be sending out stuff stinking like that. Yuk!

Ah, the mystery of the rare dark brown grain is solved. These shoes have been dyed from their original tan colour. Dyed well, but obvious when you look closely.
No mention of this by the seller.
So now I have stinky AND stained shoes. Yum
I can feel some neg feedback coming on.
That's too bad Weejun. Those really looked beautiful from the pictures on your blog.

How do shoes get to smell of smoke? Was someone using them as a target in a smoke ring contest?
