May I just say that in London we take great pride in our freedom to look like freaks. You can do what you want here and most people don't give a toss. I'd much sooner have people point at the nutter in the funny trousers than to blend in anonymously. Non-conformism is at the centre of the conformism of the Ivy look.
GG
I defend anyone's right to look the way they want to, of course. If I was a 18 year old I would hike my pants up to my armpits if I felt like it. But unfortunatly, I am a 47 year old who understands what does and doesn't look good on him. So even if 'half mast' is a Ivy must do, I think I'll pass.
Trousers which are too long I just find bizarre. I shudder when I see people wearing jeans completely covering their shoes and walking impassively on the pants themselves. Why, for fucks sake?
To me that is more redolent of Village Idiocy.
The lvy forum is very active. lt's amazing the following and keeness here. l better piss off.
As Adam said "I prefer a slight break on a desert/chukka boot.
exceptionally short hems sometimes look a bit jokey - kids at school got bullied for it.
saying that, on hot days i roll up jeans/chinos pretty high."
Sounds good to me chum, shall we settle for this?

The weather is too cool for Aloha shirts:
black Weejuns (I regret missing out on these for 40 years of my life, have a burgundy pair on their way now), they feel like bedroom slippers
racing green socks
H&M 'Sliq' dark jeans, battered black belt (bought 1991ish from a hippy in the Périgord)
blue Brooks slim-fit OCBD
dark grey herringbone sack jacket, Brooks Boys' Dept.
black-faced GMT watch on 'Bond' NATO strap
fresh #2 crop to keep the 'sparseness and grey' at bay
This Mod versus Ivy thing is getting out of hand!
Casual Friday. Blue 'sucker DB suit with Pink OCBD. Loafers and no socks. Summer is good.
