What kind of lads would have been buying those Burberrys' style cord coats from 'Clothesville'?
Is it really true that there were cropped heads and button-downs as early as 1964?
Is Kevin Rowlands not just the most enormous bullshitter?
Hewitt aside, who still wears a Brutus shirt?
Just curious.
Good. Thanks, Alex. But - at that point - why the crop? Wherein the influence? Was it a riposte to the shaggy Stones look?

A look that would pass muster now, should a young man have the wit and courage to ditch his baggy sports wear, trainers and fucking stupid Tibetan hat - hands down winner of the 'Stupid Prick of the Year' contest.
But I'm interested in the whys and the wherefores. Did Clapton copy others or did others copy Clapton?

Just to be clear, the guy in the photo is the friend I mentioned who had the crew-cut in 1964.
He has always been a fan of Americana in general and the ivy style in particular.
He has never ever been interested in mod or any other youth culture.
