Hmmmmm, the unlined Blazer...

Well now -

Blazers are English & lined. They are from a Navy tradition and so they are subject to the rules of Military tailoring. Very different to civilian tailoring.

An unlined Blazer might be an Ivy item... Is he after a Natural Shoulder?

Or is the post just to show off that he spends time in the tropics? If he indeed does.

... And why does the Dick want to wear a navy Blazer in the tropics anyway these days?

NOW LOOK HERE -

I have a large compliment of servants to kit out - Nig-Nogs, Spicks, Ities, Paddies, Taffies, Jocks, Packies, Sambos, Chinks & I also have a Yid who runs the whole show for me with a little help from a Wog and a Bog-Trotter who may also be a Kraut and a Gypo and a Homo (I can't tell).

Question is how to dress them in livery?

I want them to look like lackies when compared to me, but I don't want them looking like slobs.

I have my standards.

Any ideas would be a boon, Genitalmen.

Our organist's sister has returned from Miami with her bastard son: Half Yank, half proper.

So what do you recommend I have the boy kitted out in?

He's starting at Rugby soon so I want to make a good show of having set him off on the right track.

'We're not doing any harm'. Don't agree. Upsetting people is harming them. Of course you can complain that they aren't robust enough and it's all in jest and they deserve it and all the explanations bullies generally use. But it comes down to indulging yourselves at the expense of others. I agree that no one has to read it, but I'm not sure that this is an excuse for deliberately setting out to hurt someone. It amounts to little more than saying it's ok to talk behind someone's back.

'We keep them honest'. More in this, but that could actually done by civilised discourse elsewhere. On analysis it links with the first reason given above. The honesty is secondary to having a great time by having a go at other people.

Cicero. This really is bollocks. Some bloke says something stupid 2,000 years ago and it suddenly turns into wisdom through the passage of time? That's brilliant for those who don't want to think for themselves, but it isn't what everyone says this place is about. Cicero said 'I'll shit all over someone without naming them. That way when they need to defend themselves from what I have said everyone will laugh at them'. That was a cheap tactic then and it's cheap now.

'We can make fun of them if we like'. Sure you can and no one can or should stop you. But equally people should form their opinions of you based on that behaviour. The rather defensive reaction to the opinion I formed suggests a certain willingness to dish it out but not quite the same willingness to take it.

I know I'm dull and boring, but the world tends to be nicer when people are kind to each other.

So, having said all the above, can I also say thank you for arguing the point so genuinely
