Blue Collar Cool. For Familyman -

Americana...

1951 (I think - Too lazy to check)
A Place in the Sun. Paramount.
Montgomery Clift & Elizabeth Taylor. Both very young.

A factory boy gets lucky and then very unlucky...
LOVELY period details.

Good T-Shirt stuff!  Worth a DVD rental.

Miles.

(Nothing wrong with being obvious).

'The Worker' Chapter of Jocks & Nerds. Richard Martin & Harlod Koda. Rizzoli. 1989. Will interest you, familyman.
Denim. T-Shirts. Flannel. Chambray. Leather. Tough clothing.
Pure Blue Collar American 'Prole' -  Practical, Stylish & Fantastic.

I think I may have found a new drinking partner...

Important as a human being to be able to drink in the American Bar of the Savoy AND the downstairs bar of Halfway to Heaven. They are only a short walk away from each other.
One must LIVE while one still has a pulse.

I'm praying that that is a frisbee & not a landmine ahead...  wink

Good rough n' tough Americana. Well played.

Fantastic BD roll - Who are you wearing there?

In fact - talk me through the Boats, Khakis & Denim Carpenter Jacket (Is it?)? ... But only if you fancy.

All good stuff. Thanks for sharing. The best thing is that you can see that you actually LIVE in this look.
No fancy-dress for you.
The real deal.

Re: Blue Collar Cool. For Familyman -

The OCBD is LL Bean. It makes me sad really as they no longer offer properly sized OCBD's in regular non-non iron fabric. I like the shirt quite a lot.
The jacket is from Pointer Brand http://www.pointerbrand.com/ and has been treated to a home brew mixture of beeswax and raw linseed oil. This was an attempt to waterproof it much like Filson does to their fabrics. I was only partly successful though I learned a huge amount during the process. It was fun and I like wearing the coat.
The pants are just house brand chinos from JC Penny, also discontinued.
The boots are from Russell. http://www.russellmoccasin.com/index.html Truly spectacular boots.
I'm starting to really love the clothes I put on in the morning.

Re: Blue Collar Cool. For Familyman -

Would never have guessed Bean despite owning many.
Pointer Brand is new to me - Many thanks.
Ahhhhhh - Russell !
THE name we're all talking about over here but nobody owns yet. ( I say 'we', but I mean my very small circle of friends).

What year is the Bean shirt? I know I'm a bore about this stuff. You have the best Bean collar roll I've ever seen there.

Re: Blue Collar Cool. For Familyman -

I bought the bean shirt in March of this year and by September when I thought of ordering another one they were gone. I openly wept.
You'd like a pair of Russells Miles, they're fine boots.

Re: Blue Collar Cool. For Familyman -

The OCBD was an new order in March of this year. It may well be one of the last batches. Very sad.
That picture is from the national archive depression era collection. It's very likely that it's before the repeal in '33.
