Re: Do you wear jeans?

No! Inelegant, lowbrow, and I despise their plebeian ubiquity. I never found them particularly comfortable either back when I used to wear them. I don't think I've had a pair in over 20 years.

Re: Do you wear jeans?

I'm with captainpreppy. Last time I wore them is when I was a kid, and they were called dungarees. Other than for "roughing it" I don't consider them proper streetwear. Now. as for Cruiser...

Re: Do you wear jeans?

Yes, I wear jeans, mainly on weekends or evenings.  My favorites are RRL Straight Leg and J Crew Vintage Slim Fit.  Polo jeans also tend to fit rather well, and I have few of these also.  Mostly selvage, although some are plain old rungspun denim.  Some of the new Gap jeans look decent, and I may given them a try for change.

I do, although, I commend those stalwarts who refuse to do so.  Faves are Wrangler, Carhartt, Diamond Gusset, Schaefer, LL Bean, Beretta and Loro Piana.

Re: Do you wear jeans?

Yes, but l don't really like them. l wear them when i've got work to do in my shed or in the yard. l always liked the Dolce & Gabbana lined jeans, way overpriced at over $500.00 a pair in the late 90's (no choice in Oz) but very nice.

I do not wear denim jeans - too common and sloppy.

Re: Do you wear jeans?

I do.

Vintage NOS Levi's 501 selvedge (ideally with a big E on a red tab) are my favourite jeans, but they are hard to find...

LVC 1947 501s shrink to fit (don't buy the pre-shrunk!) are a nice alternative.

The originals are still the greatest.

It's a shame that you have to pay that much for a decent pair of jeans, though.

I tried other stuff, but Levi's 501s are my faves.

I don't like designer jeans. Something wrong about the idea.

Jeans have to be American, I think. I heard a lot of good stuff about Japanese selvedge denim, but I never gave it a try.

They have to be blue, a dark indigo blue, when bought new, but they look best, when they were worn for a while.

I also tried black and white. Black doesn't fade in a nice way, and white... well, tight white ones are quite cool, if you know how to wear them, but you stand out too much. Only for young people... if you're older than, say, 30, it's a midlife crisis look...

A nice alternative to denim jeans are 5-pocket needlecords in a similar style. Tan, olive, and some shades of brown are best.

Of course, they're common. They're classics, but you see too many abominations:

What I really hate are all these artificially faded ones, stone washed, designer holes etc... or you see jeans with too many seems, or pleated ones.

All of this is WRONG!

They have to get old on yourself, everything else is just fake, and those who buy jeans that have holes cut in, deserve to get holes in their heads, to get beat with baseball bats, whatever...

Jeans look good with sneakers, white tennis shoes (Keds, Jack Purcells) or basketball ankle boots (Chuck Taylors), with brown suede Chukka Boots, say Clark's Desert Boots, Original Playboy Plantation Crepe Chukkas or similar styles such as Sanders Hi-Tops. I'm looking for dirty bucks with brick red soles. I also like jeans with Plain-Toe Bluchers or Longwings and certainly with all sorts of Penny Loafers.

Re: Do you wear jeans?

The cut looks alright, but I'm not sure about the "diamond wash"...

Not all 501s are nice. I only really like the LVC shrink to fits. Heavy denim. Very uncomfortable in the beginning. Takes time...

Some people hate the English, I don't, they're just wankers. We, on the other hand, were colonized by wankers, Can't even pick a decent culture to be colonized by...

I like Carhart.

For very casual use, the best "jeans" I have are Patagonia Stand-Up pants.  They're super comfy and nearly indestructable.

Re: Do you wear jeans?

I have five pairs:

Levis 501

Wrangler (boot cut)

Armani (501 knockoff)

Henry Cottons (501 knockoff)

Burberry (boot cut)

All chosen primarily for fit and reasonable (under $300) pricepoint as I rarely (couple times a month) wear jeans.

Re: Do you wear jeans?

Used to have alot of Dolce and Gabbana (my favourites) and Versace jeans, but l grew out of them too. wink Such a waste of money. l gave most of them away to hot chicks.

One thing l don't really like is the button fly jeans. lt's a lot of messing around when you need to have a piss and can be embarrassing when using a urinal in public because you have to completely undo your pants/jeans...it looks like you are playing with yourself. Zippers are much easier. Also: the button holes can stop holding the fly shut after a while (on some pairs) so you walk around with your fly half open. :LOL. Then again, it can be good because it can give girls ideas. wink

Re: Do you wear jeans?

i bought and returned a pair of iron heart 301s last weekend. couldn't go through with it, especially when i should really be getting some poplin trousers. they were really beautiful, though, and fit perfectly.

Re: Do you wear jeans?

I am interested in adding a few jeans. I am going to get them made up. Currently examining some of that artsinal, shuttle loomed denim, probably from japan. Also known as selvedge or raw denim.

Also getting some softer denim from Holland and Sherry as well as some fine lightweight denim from Acorn (Already tried the Acorn and it's heaven), unfortunately the cloth was not received so well because people associate Acorn with shirt material.

Also getting some unconstructed khakis and thinking about flannel sweat pants.

Re: Do you wear jeans?

Made up as a flat front trouser or with a 5-pocket jean cut? If the denim isn't too heavy, the former could come out great.
