What follows is very 'Pollyanna' / 'Anne of Green Gables' in tone, but I do agree that the internet should be better than it is and, indeed, could be better than it is.
Sadly it isn't. Never has been. And it would be a miracle if it ever was in the future.

Cynical & destructive (such is the nature if the beast), but Waxy understands the flawed nature of the medium he is using and uses it to suit himself nicely. No Pollyanna he.
The Net really should have a health warning... Or at least some sort of foundation course like you get at Art School. People get their feelings hurt online purely because they don't realise that they are entering into a Bear Garden. There are no rules...
And I think that's very wrong...
