Re: Gant!

Some nice classic shirts from the Gant archive, definitely worth checking :

Re: Gant!

Very nice. Gant for the Yale Co-Op... I have Brooks for the Harvard Coop...

I love the idea of both Co-Op & Coop.

Which other colleges had what?

Re: Gant!

Do Gant reproduce anything like this today? I've always seen gant as an average logoed up clothes maker - fitting between lacoste and ralph lauren's standard range of clothes in Debenhams....

Surely there's a market now for them to reproduce USA made OCBDs like those on ACL. I saw they had 60th anniversary shirts recently, but still, they could go beyond that, surely?!

Re: Gant!

They should push out a "Trad" range quick. Then we can all go down the high street & snap them up.

Gant have such a great history, but as you say they are pure Debenhams now.

What a world!

Re: Gant!

Can't someone see the hysteria and the $$$ surrounding Take Ivy, American workwear and the like with the hipsters at the moment (I must admit I am young, and may look like one of them to some of you, but genuinely have a deeper appreciation than just the flavour of the week style).

Importantly, there's a market for young guys interested in american made OCBDs which means lots of money and potential to be 'cool'. What about Gitman, Woolrich... (I may be wrong here, but they seem to have done a pretty decent job noticing the 'trend').

But I guess this just echoes what's being said about Bass, Sperry etc  with imported shose rather than made in Maine.

There's money there though for these companies if they open their eyes, though.

Re: Gant!

Good observation, Colin. There's a Gant store on the outskirts of my hometown and there are also corners to be found in department stores in the city centre, IMHO there's more and more interesting gear on stock, among all the loud stuff that is. I'm pretty satisfied with my Gant mac for instance and also the latest 'University Oxford' BD I've purchased ( in deep lilac BTW ) is nice....

Yes... Once you've seen through it all the fun's all over.

It's all a load of pants.

Re: Gant!

If only I was sane, like you.

I remember how I was once happy with Arrow shirts...

Life was easier then.

I thank and blame that John Simons for all of this. Him and his fancy imported shoes... What did I find in Freeport, Maine? A guy wearing Clarks and showing off about them as fantastic and rare import items!

And now I learn that English style shirts are more "Trad" than OCBDs!!

Oy.
