Record labels screw bands over. Story as old as time. The real $$ is from touring, and merch. Albums are such a crapshoot that many of my favorite artists give them away. There is still more than a bit of killer music being made, you just won't hear it on the radio, buy it in stores or from itunes, etc.....

l'll post some victums of music later. Stars that got ripped off. Stars that should be rich but aren't. Stars that are struggling to pay the bills. Should l? l'm feelin' scared, but maybe l should.
Billy Childish! I can't think of an artist who is busier than him, and he's always on the dole... Millions of bands have ripped off his style of 50s/60s influenced garage punk, some of them such as the White Stripes did so and were extremely successful... Billy is not only a musician, he's also a writer and a painter...

Talking Heads - Once In a Lifetime, the Wembley '82 version. Cool as fuck, I assume after 14 pages the original 1980 version has already been played, but it kicks in mid way anyway.
Another funky version:

All, and I mean all of life's concerns are addressed in this song. I dance like David Byrne, and David dances like the memory of the ancients, the dance movements that will take us to God. Kerouac was tuned to this too, but in words....and Bird in bebop. And when I dance like Byrne, my wife doesn't understand me, but my children do. And nevertheless, she loves me anyway, and that's all that one can do.
I am proud, that at 38 I can dance like David Byrne every night of the week and as the other guys got fat, I stayed hungry.

absolutely classic ace. the heads are one of my all time favorite bands......and yes the song does an exquisite job of capturing life in all its, well, glory?
here's to always being hungry
There was a time 1978-1980 and upto 1983 live, the Heads were the greatest band on earth.
not too hijack too much--------->
I have a show from '83 (aug. 20th) that is by far one of the best live shows in my mammoth collection. It is just perfect performance and sound wise. Pretty sure the other Heads show I have is from 78, possibly 79. Also excellent, but the recording leaves a lot to be desired. You can definitely here a progression between the years.
Video would be nice, but bless whomever thought to tape that 83 concert. hmmmmm, talk is cheap, must listen now

Sorry if this has been posted.
But Stevie Ray Vaughn is/was one of my all time favorites.
I still live a few blocks from what was probably his favorite venue to perform, Rockefellers on Washington in Houston, Tx.

It's 50/50 I was at this performance.
He was a musician's musician and people and bands that were much better known than he, adored him.
One of the best :
